An analytical solution of direction evolution of crack growth during progressive failure in brittle rocks

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel analytical method is proposed to evaluate the shear stress effect on the progressive compressive failure and microcrack growth direction in brittle rocks. The shear stress effect on the wing crack growth direction during the progressive compressive failure is determined. The initial crack angle effect on the y‐direction peak stress and the wing

Triangle diagram, distance geometry and Symmetries of Feynman Integrals

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We study the most general triangle diagram through the Symmetries of Feynman Integrals (SFI) approach. The SFI equation system is obtained and presented in a simple basis.

The simple method of distinguishing the underlying differentiable structures of algebraic surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1992
The simplest version of the Spin-polynomial invariants of the underlying differentiable structures of algebraic surfaces were considered and the simplest arguments were used in order to distinguish the underlying smooth structures of certain algebraic surfaces.

Dielectrophoresis Tutorial: Inspired by Hatfield's 1924 Patent and Boltzmann's Theory and Experiments of 1874

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The first patent to describe dielectrophoresis (DEP) as a means and process to separate particles from a mixture was granted by the US Patent Office to Henry Stafford Hatfield in 1924. The novel methods of sample preparation and designs of electrode geometry covered by the patent's disclosures and claims describe the basis for most present‐day

T-duality of emergent gravities on nilmanifolds

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study the transport of generalized metrics between topological T-dual nil-manifolds through a Lie algebraic point of view. Emergent gravities are generalized metrics with symplectic B-fields.

Algebraic Differential Characters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1996
We give a construction of algebraic differential characters, receiving classes of algebraic bundles with connection, lifitng the Chern-Simons invariants defined with S. Bloch, the classes in the Chow group and the analytic secondary invariants if the variety is defined over the field of complex numbers.

eCherry: A Modelica Library for Modular Dynamic Modelling of Electrochemical Reactors

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electrochemical reactors offer promising pathways for defossilizing the chemical industry. To understand the operation as well as to evaluate and optimise their performance and efficiency, modelling presents a crucial tool. Currently, no comprehensive open‐source library for dynamic modelling of electrochemical reactors exists, and instead ...

Intersection numbers, polynomial division and relative cohomology

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We present a simplification of the recursive algorithm for the evaluation of intersection numbers for differential n-forms, by combining the advantages emerging from the choice of delta-forms as generators of relative twisted cohomology groups and the ...

New examples (and counterexamples) of complete finite-rank differential varieties [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Differential algebraic geometry seeks to extend the results of its algebraic counterpart to objects defined by differential equations. Many notions, such as that of a projective algebraic variety, have close differential analogues but their behavior can vary in interesting ways.

Extreme 5-dimensional black holes with SU(2)-symmetric horizons

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We show that the near horizon geometry of 5-dimensional extreme (i.e., degenerate) stationary vacuum black holes, with or without cosmological constant, whose event horizons exhibit SU(2) symmetry must be that of a Berger sphere.
