Languaging and conceptual understanding in engineering mathematics

open access: yesLUMAT, 2022
The ability to apply mathematical concepts and procedures in relevant contexts in engineering subjects sets the fundamental basis for the mathematics competencies in engineering education.

Deformations of normed groupoids and differential calculus. First part [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Differential calculus on metric spaces is contained in the algebraic study of normed groupoids with $\delta$-structures. Algebraic study of normed groups endowed with dilatation structures is contained in the differential calculus on metric spaces ...

Lifestyle Behaviors and Cardiotoxic Treatment Risks in Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Higher doses of anthracyclines and heart‐relevant radiotherapy increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. This study assessed CVD and CVD risk factors among adult childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) across cardiotoxic treatment risk groups and examined associations between lifestyle behaviors and treatment risks.

De l’intraitable à l’indéterminé : entre calcul et géométrie, réflexions leibniziennes autour de ⁰⁄₀ (1700-1706)

open access: yesPhilosophia Scientiæ, 2021
In 1672, Leibniz introduced the expression “” in a mathematical text dealing with number series to express the sum of units. It probably is one of the first appearances of this expression in the history of mathematics.

Two-parameter differential calculus on the h-superplane

open access: yes, 2001
We introduce a noncommutative differential calculus on the two-parameter $h$-superplane via a contraction of the (p,q)-superplane. We manifestly show that the differential calculus is covariant under $GL_{h_1,h_2}(1| 1)$ transformations.

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Parent‐to‐Child Information Disclosure in Pediatric Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite professional consensus regarding the importance of open communication with pediatric cancer patients about their disease, actual practice patterns of disclosure are understudied. Extant literature suggests a significant proportion of children are not told about their diagnosis/prognosis, which is purported to negatively ...

On the 5D differential calculus and translation transformations in 4D kappa-Minkowski noncommutative spacetime

open access: yes, 2007
We perform a Noether analysis for a description of translation transformations in 4D $\kappa$-Minkowski noncommutative spacetime which is based on the structure of a 5D differential calculus.

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Full Abstraction for the Resource Lambda Calculus with Tests, through Taylor Expansion [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2012
We study the semantics of a resource-sensitive extension of the lambda calculus in a canonical reflexive object of a category of sets and relations, a relational version of Scott's original model of the pure lambda calculus.
