Contamination insensitive differential capacitive pressure sensors

Proceedings IEEE Thirteenth Annual International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (Cat. No.00CH36308), 2000
In this paper, a contamination-insensitive differential capacitive pressure sensor with a sealed gap is presented. This device is made of three polysilicon layers including a stationary middle plate and the top and bottom plates that are rigidly coupled together by a series of posts hence deflecting in tandem by a change in differential or gauge ...

Acceleration sensor with differential capacitance

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1992
In an acceleration sensor, in particular for automobiles, at least two electrodes which are surrounded by a dielectric are arranged, substantially parallel to each other, in a housing and immersed over part of their length in an electrically conductive liquid. Flip-flops output pulses having durations based on capacitance of the sensor.

A switched-capacitor differential-capacitance-to-time converter for capacitive sensors

2011 IEEE 54th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2011
A high-accuracy and low-power consumption switched-capacitor (SC) differential-capacitance-to-time converter (DCTC) is presented for high-accuracy ratiometric operation of capacitive sensors. This circuit does not require additional capacitors and component matching.

A differential capacitive mini-displacement sensor

Proceedings of IEEE Sensors, 2004., 2006
The paper describes a micromachined device that offers high sensitivity and wide dynamic range for electronically monitoring the planar displacement caused by other microstructures. The device uses a differential capacitance between overlapped electrodes to sense displacement.

Offset compensation for differential charge‐based capacitance measurement

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications
SummaryThis paper presents a fully integrated differential charge‐based capacitance measurement (CBCM) circuit designed to detect attoFarads capacitive variations to find airborne particulate matter (PM). This paper presents a novel method for compensating the output offset of the CBCM electronic front‐end in the range of 3.1–3.4 V through the trimming

A low-power, high-accuracy capacitance-to-time converter for differential capacitive sensors

2017 IEEE 8th Latin American Symposium on Circuits & Systems (LASCAS), 2017
A low-power and high-accuracy switched-capacitor (SC) capacitance-to-time (C/T) converter used as an interface for differential capacitive sensors is presented. The propagation delays of the comparator do not directly have effect on the accuracy, but the difference between rising propagation delays of the comparator for two reference voltages does ...
