On-Chip Implementable Autocalibration of Sensor Offset for Differential Capacitive Sensor Interfaces
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021In this article, we propose an autocalibration method to cancel out the mismatch between the sensing capacitors in differential capacitive sensors. The proposed autocalibration logic is implemented with the help of a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and a few discrete components that can be integrated fully on-chip.

A differential capacitive mini-displacement sensor
Proceedings of IEEE Sensors, 2004., 2006The paper describes a micromachined device that offers high sensitivity and wide dynamic range for electronically monitoring the planar displacement caused by other microstructures. The device uses a differential capacitance between overlapped electrodes to sense displacement.

A simplified architecture for differential capacitance sensors
2015 XVIII AISEM Annual Conference, 2015This paper describes a simple approach to perform differential capacitance measurements by the design and characterization of a dedicated electronic circuit. Capacitance transducers provide information about changes in capacitance in response to a physical variation.

Capacitive Silicon Differential Pressure Sensor
Proceedings of the International Solid-State Sensors and Actuators Conference - TRANSDUCERS '95, 2005A capacitive differential pressure sensor based on silicon bulk micromachining is presented. This sensor, which is part of a flow metering system, transforms the differential pressure delivered by a fluidic oscillator into capacitance variations. These variations are then converted by an ASIC into a digital output signal.

A differential capacitive torque sensor (DCTS)
IEEE Sensors, 2005., 2005A novel design is presented for a noncontacting torque sensor based on differential capacitive sensing principles. Although, developed initially for automotive applications, the sensor and sensing techniques presented are applicable to a wide range of applications in the industrial, transportation, and aerospace and defense ...

Acceleration sensor with differential capacitance
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1992In an acceleration sensor, in particular for automobiles, at least two electrodes which are surrounded by a dielectric are arranged, substantially parallel to each other, in a housing and immersed over part of their length in an electrically conductive liquid. Flip-flops output pulses having durations based on capacitance of the sensor.

Fully-differential low-offset interface for capacitive sensors
2010 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2010A novel fully-differential capacitor measuring circuit is presented in this paper. Baseline drift is reduced by using a reference branch and the offsets of two op-amps are cancelled by each other. The simulation results show that linearity of this measuring circuit achieves 99.98%, baseline drift reduces to 4mV and sensitivity error between simulated ...

Switched Capacitor Signal Conditioning for Differential Capacitive Sensors
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2007A novel switched capacitor signal-conditioning circuit for differential capacitive sensors is proposed. The main advantage of the proffered method lies in the fact that it accepts sensors possessing either linear or inverse characteristics and provides a linear output.

A Differential Output Interfacing ASIC for Integrated Capacitive Sensors
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2018In this paper, we have proposed an input interfacing scheme with differential output for integrated capacitive sensor applications. In the proposed scheme, the front-end interfacing is based on switched capacitor charge amplifier configuration using a fully differential operational transconductance amplifier and one differential capacitive sensor ...

Symmetric differential capacitive pressure sensor
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1993Differential capacitive sensors are common to pressure gauges. Previous sensors of the bridge type have utilized only two variable (active) components, resulting in a half-bridge electrical equivalent circuit. There are numerous advantages of a symmetric full bridge, using four active components.
