Differentially Private Distributed Learning
INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2020The rich data used to train learning models increasingly tend to be distributed and private. It is important to efficiently perform learning tasks without compromising individual users’ privacy even considering untrusted learning applications and, furthermore, understand how privacy-preservation mechanisms impact the learning process.

Differential Equations in Distributions
2021This chapter presents both ordinary and partial differential equations in distributions. Linear differential equations with constant coefficients are discussed in the framework of the theory of distributions. Hyperbolic, parabolic and elliptic partial differential equations are solved by means of the Fourier transform. The Cauchy problem is discussed.

Differential phase-shift quantum key distribution
SPIE Proceedings, 2002A novel quantum cryptography scheme is proposed, in which a single photon is prepared in a linear superposition state of three basis kets. A photon split to three pulses is sent from Alice to Bob, where the phase difference between sequential two pulses carries bit information.

Differentiation of Distributions
2010If f is continuously differentiable on an open set X in R n, one obtains by means of integration by parts that for every test function \(\phi\) the following holds: \(({\rm{test}}\ \partial _j\ f)(\phi ) = - ({\rm {test}}\ f)(\partial _j\ \phi ).\)

Differentiating aggregate gaze distributions
Proceedings of the ACM SIGGRAPH Symposium on Applied Perception in Graphics and Visualization, 2011A machine learning approach used to classify aggregate gaze distributions recorded by an eye tracker and visualized as heatmaps is demonstrated to successfully discriminate between free and task-driven exploration of video clips.

Multimodal optimization problems (MMOPs) require algorithms to locate multiple optima simultaneously. When using evolutionary algorithms (EAs) to deal with MMOPs, an intuitive idea is to divide the population into several small "niches," where different niches focus on locating different optima. These population partition strategies are called "niching"

DIFFERENTIAL OPERATORS ON SCHWARTZ DISTRIBUTIONS
International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2012Differential operators on Schwartz distributions usually are defined as the transpose of differential operators on test functions. However, they do not exhaust all differential operators. In a general setting, Schwartz distributions on sections of compact support of a vector bundle Y over a smooth manifold X are considered.

Electronic distribution coding in cellular differentiation
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1973Abstract The present theories of cell differentiation explain how different types of cells can be obtained, starting from a single cell or cell type, through the action of gene repressors. They do not, however, provide a model for the primary step, i.e.
