Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

Geometric Aspects of Mixed Quantum States Inside the Bloch Sphere
When studying the geometry of quantum states, it is acknowledged that mixed states can be distinguished by infinitely many metrics. Unfortunately, this freedom causes metric-dependent interpretations of physically significant geometric quantities such as

Intrinsic Curvatures of Atomic Orbitals for Hydrogen-Like Atoms [PDF]
Within the quantum model for the hydrogen-like atom and taking into account the concepts of differential geometry, we calculate the intrinsic curvature of several types of atomic orbitals. Based on this concept of intrinsic curvature, a classification of

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Ordinary differential equations in affine geometry
The method of qualitative analysis is used, as applied to a class of fourth order, nonlinear ordinary differential equations, in order to classify, both locally and globally, two classes of hypersurfaces of decomposable type in affine geometry: those ...

X‐Ray Tomography Analysis of Damage Mechanisms in Metal Matrix Syntactic Foams During Compression
In situ synchrotron X‐ray tomography is used to investigate the internal damage mechanisms of AlSi12 metal matrix syntactic foam with ceramic hollow spheres during compressive loading. It is concluded that a homogeneous distribution of the second‐phase filler material results in a sequential collapse in a localized region; this leads to controlled and ...

Closed, Two Dimensional Surface Dynamics
We present dynamic equations for two dimensional closed surfaces and analytically solve it for some simplified cases. We derive final equations for surface normal motions by two different ways. The solution of the equations of motions in normal direction
