Activation of a Secondary‐Messenger Receptor via Allosteric Modulation of a Dynamic Conformational Ensemble

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Intrinsically disordered loops within globular protein domains have long escaped structural biology. Here, Söldner et al. show that despite this disorder, an allosteric modulation is exerted in a secondary‐messenger receptor by binding of its secondary messenger.

Micromechanical Modeling of the Elasto‐Viscoplastic Stress–Strain Response of α‐iPP

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Micromechanical modelling of α‐iPP. ABSTRACT The mechanical properties of semi‐crystalline polymers are dictated by the individual characteristics of crystalline and amorphous phases and the complex interplay between them. Processing conditions can strongly influence micro‐structural features such as crystallinity and orientation of crystalline ...

Growing sabers: Mandibular shape and biomechanical performance trajectories during the ontogeny of Smilodon fatalis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The evolution of organisms can be studied through the lens of developmental systems, as the timing of development of morphological features is an important aspect to consider when studying a phenotype. Such data can be challenging to obtain in fossil amniotes owing to the scarcity of their fossil record. However, the numerous remains of Rancho
