Mechanical decoupling device for monolithic differential vibrating sensor

open access: closedThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
A sensor comprises two identical vibrating members operating with a common working frequency and joined to each other by a mechanical decoupling device. The device comprises a frame and two connecting bridges each supporting one member. The frame comprises a succession of mass portions and thinned portions so that the frequency of one mode of ...

Differential Medical Aerosol Device and Interface Selection in Patients during Spontaneous, Conventional Mechanical and Noninvasive Ventilation

open access: closedJournal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery, 2015
Many aerosol delivery devices are available on the market that have different features, characteristics, and operating requirements that need to be considered for the effective treatment of patients with pulmonary diseases. Device selection in aerosol medicine is largely patient dependent.

Mathematical Model of Speeds Change Device on the Basis of Switched Differential Mechanisms

International Applied Mechanics, 2019
The geometry and kinematics of a dynamic system with several degrees of freedom and controllable friction clutches are considered. The necessary kinematic transmission ratio between the input and output links is obtained using the friction clutches. The model uses a smooth approximation of the discontinuous function of the moment of friction.

Mechanism for Negative Differential Resistance in Molecular Electronic Devices: Local Orbital Symmetry Matching

Physical Review Letters, 2007
A new mechanism for negative differential resistance (NDR) originating from local orbital symmetry matching between an electrode and a molecule in a single molecular electronic device is proposed and demonstrated by a joint experimental and theoretical scanning tunneling microscope study of a cobalt phthalocyanines (CoPc) molecule on a gold substrate ...

Privacy-Preservation Mechanisms for Smart Energy Metering Devices Based on Differential Privacy

2019 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshop (WCNCW), 2019
This paper investigates the application of differential privacy to the Smart Grid. Due to the nature of the Smart Grid, data drawn from it can be used to predict individuals behaviours and actions inside their homes which is a huge privacy violation. We show an attack that is able to predict behaviour with up to 94.3% precision.

Development of a spherical tether-handling device with a coupled differential mechanism for tethered teleoperated robots

2016 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2016
Tethered robots often experience entangling of their cables with obstacles in uncertain disaster environments. This paper proposes a spherical tether handling device that unfastens a robot's tether during surveys by releasing the tether and carrying it aside.
