Total and differential bulk cow milk somatic cell counts and their relation with lipolysis

Livestock Science, 2008
Abstract In the present study, the relationship between total bulk milk somatic cell counts (BMSCC), differential BMSCC (macrophage, lymphocyte and polymorphonuclear leukocytes) and lipolysis level was investigated. Eighty samples of bulk milk were selected randomly from eight dairy farms in the region of Sfax (Tunisia) from November 2005 to April ...

Total and Differential Somatic Cell Counts in Secretions from Noninfected Bovine Mammary Glands: The Peripartum Period

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1981
SUMMARY In 3 cows, mean total somatic cell counts in mammary gland secretions were > 1 × 106/ml from 25 days before parturition until parturition. Cell population decreased rapidly after parturition, and 10 days after parturition, all counts in foremilk were < 1 × 105/ml.

GENOME-WIDE ASSOCIATION STUDIES FOR SOMATIC CELLS COUNT AND THEIR MORPHOLOGICAL DIFFERENTIATION IN COWS’ MILK

Molochnoe i miasnoe skotovodstvo, 2022

Estimated breeding values of differential somatic cell count in Italian Holsteins

2019
Recently, we investigated the genetic aspects of milk differential somatic cell count (DSCC), a novel indicator of udder health that corresponds to the sum of the percentages of neutrophils and lymphocytes in the total somatic cell count (SCC). Information about the proportion of the different cell types in milk, in combination with the overall SCC ...

Total and Differential Somatic Cell Counts in Secretions from Noninfected Bovine Mammary Glands: The Early Nonlactating Period

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1981
SUMMARY Total somatic cells in secretions of nonlactating bovine mammary glands remained < 5 × 105 cells/ml for the first 3 days after the last milking. Macrophages predominated the 1st day, and polymorphonuclear neutrophils were most common during the 2nd and 3rd day.

Microscopic differential cell counting and viability evaluation of milk somatic cells during lactation in goat

2015
Milk contains different cell populations commonly known as somatic cells, changing their distribution under the influence of several factors as physiological status and stage of lactation, and useful to assess the transcriptional activity of the mammary gland in livestock.
