A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

A quasi-analytical solution of homogeneous extended surfaces heat diffusion equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, 2017
Background In this study, a quasi-analytical solution for longitudinal fin and pin heat conduction problems is investigated. Methods The differential transform method, which is based on the Taylor series expansion, is adapted for the development of the ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Chaotic systems via multi-step differential transformation method

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Physics, 2012
In this article, the multi-step differential transform method is implemented to give approximate and analytical solutions of nonlinear fractional order ordinary differential equation systems, such as Chen, Lorenz, Arneodo–Coullet, Genesio, Lui, and Rikitake chaotic systems.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

A Numerical Computation of a System of Linear and Nonlinear Time Dependent Partial Differential Equations Using Reduced Differential Transform Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
This paper deals with an analytical solution of an initial value system of time dependent linear and nonlinear partial differential equations by implementing reduced differential transform (RDT) method. The effectiveness and the convergence of RDT method

Optimal Control of Beer Fermentation Process Using Differential Transform Method

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2017
In this paper, the mathematical model of batch fermentation process of ethanol was formulated. The method of differential transform was used to obtain the solution governing the fermentation process; the system of equation was transformed using the ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...
