Maximal Differential Uniformity Polynomials

open access: yes, 2019
International audienceWe provide explicit infinite families of integers m such that all the polynomials of F2n [x] of degree m have maximal differential uniformity for n large enough.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Spatially Adaptive Column Fixed-Pattern Noise Correction in Infrared Imaging System Using 1D Horizontal Differential Statistics

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
In this paper we present a novel non-uniformity correction (NUC) method to remove column fixed-pattern noise (FPN), which is introduced by non-uniformity of on-chip column-parallel readout circuit in uncooled infrared focal plane array. We first define a

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

A Novel Construction of Substitution Box Based on Polynomial Mapped and Finite Field With Image Encryption Application

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In the modern block cipher, the substitution box (S-box) is a nonlinear constituent that plays a substantial role to create the confusion in ciphertext. S-boxes with low value of differential uniformity and high value of nonlinearity are considered more ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

The $c-$differential uniformity and boomerang uniformity of three classes of permutation polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Permutation polynomials with low $c$-differential uniformity and boomerang uniformity have wide applications in cryptography. In this paper, by utilizing the Weil sums technique and solving some certain equations over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$, we determine the

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

New links between nonlinearity and differential uniformity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceThis paper establishes some new links between the nonlinearity and differential uniformity of some large classes of functions, such as power functions, differentially two-valued functions and quadratic functions.
