Diffraction efficiency evaluation for diamond turning of harmonic diffractive optical elements
Applied Optics, 2020Single point diamond turning is a commonly used method for manufacturing harmonic diffractive optical elements (HDOEs). Diffraction efficiency of HDOEs is sensitive to surface-relief profile errors, and a half-round tool can reduce the profile error obviously. Furthermore, the diamond tools also create surface roughness errors.

HETG high-order diffraction efficiency

High-efficiency switchable diffractive lens
SPIE Proceedings, 2006We demonstrate that, by using circular array of electrode pattern and applying multi-level phase modulation in each zone, a high-efficiency switchable electro-optic diffractive lens using liquid crystal as the active medium can be produced as a switchable eyewear. The lens is flat and the thickness of the liquid crystal is 5 μm.

Approximate diffraction theories: efficient modeling of diffractive optical elements
Diffractive Optics and Micro-Optics, 2002A new formulation of the generalized Kirchhoff approximation is presented which provides improved accuracy and a higher flexibility to model surface relief structures. The predicted diffraction amplitude is compared with rigorous coupled wave theory.

Upper bound of the diffraction efficiency of diffractive phase elements
Optics Letters, 1991An upper bound of the diffraction efficiency of diffractive elements that only influence the phase of the illumination wave is derived. The derivation only utilizes the specification of the desired diffraction pattern. It is independent of the technique to design and fabricate the diffractive element.

Optics Letters, 2010What we believe to be a new method for designing multilayer diffractive optical elements (MLDOEs) for wideband with consideration of polychromatic integral diffraction efficiency (PIDE) is presented. The benefit of this method is that the maximum PIDE over the entire waveband for MLDOEs can be obtained.
