Chiral diffraction gratings [PDF]

open access: possible2017 Photonics North (PN), 2017
Planar chiral structures were inscribed on a Disperse Red 1 glass-forming derivative using a single circularly polarized laser beam at λ= 532 nm. Non-reciprocity activity is recorded for the structure.

Phononic crystal diffraction gratings

Journal of Applied Physics, 2012
When a phononic crystal is interrogated by an external source of acoustic waves, there is necessarily a phenomenon of diffraction occurring on the external enclosing surfaces. Indeed, these external surfaces are periodic and the resulting acoustic diffraction grating has a periodicity that depends on the orientation of the phononic crystal.

Polarizing diffraction-grating triplicators [PDF]

open access: possibleOptics Letters, 2001
We report experimental results with a reflective continuous anisotropic polarizing diffraction-grating beam splitter that produces three diffraction orders. The diffraction efficiencies and polarizations of the diffracted orders are controlled through the incoming polarization state and by use of a wave plate with arbitrary orientation located between ...

Diffraction Grating Spectroscopy

Applied Optics, 1969
The present state of grating spectroscopy is reviewed with special emphasis on the far ir. The review includes the discussion of the properties of diffraction gratings, the intensity distribution among different orders of echelette gratings, Wood anomalies, ir and submillimeterwave filters, detectors, grating spectrometers with thermal sources, rules ...

Diffraction gratings (manufacture)

Reports on Progress in Physics, 1975
Recent progress in the techniques of manufacture of spectroscopic diffraction gratings is described. Three main topics are discussed in detail; (i) the mechanical ruling of gratings, and the way in which the mechanical aspects of the ruling process affect the spectroscopic performance of the grating; (ii) the development of interference (or ...

Diffraction-grating transducers

1997 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium Proceedings. An International Symposium (Cat. No.97CH36118), 2002
Diffraction grating transducers, like optical diffraction gratings, produce beams at different angles for different frequencies. They transmit and receive what would be considered the grating lobe for conventional array transducers. Diffraction-grating transducers were developed to produce multiple beams at known angles so that angle-independent ...

Generalized Curvilinear Diffraction Gratings: III . Euclidian diffraction gratings

Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1983
This paper is the third in a series of papers on the diffraction and imaging properties of generalized curvilinear diffraction gratings. Here we study classes of plane uncrossed diffraction gratings which have the common property that their Fourier transform patterns consist of sharp-line caustics. These types of generalized gratings are referred to as

HOLOGRAPHIC DIFFRACTION GRATINGS

Applied Physics Letters, 1966
From a careful evaluation of a very simple hologram, the photographically produced grating, we have been able to obtain quantitative data on image reconstruction efficiency as a function of processing procedures and illumination parameters such as orientation angle and wavelength.

DIFFRACTION GRATINGS

1998
Publisher Summary The chapter discusses diffraction gratings. This novel method of engine control and the development of high-fidelity replication processes made a variety of high-quality gratings commercially available in the 1950s. In these developments, every effort had been directed to rule perfectly equispaced parallel grooves.

Diffraction gratings for spectroscopy

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1970
The role of gratings in spectroscopy is reviewed together with their historical development. The ruling of master gratings, the engines required for that purpose and the subsequent replication, all representing the current state of the art, are described. A summary of grating physics is useful in deciding on specifications for a given application.
