Light trapping properties of cylindrical well diffraction gratings in solar cells: Computational calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Light trapping using diffraction gratings is a promising approach to increasing absorption in solar cells. In this paper, the computationally calculated absorption enhancement expected from a diffraction grating consisting of a triangular array of ...

Locally erasable couplers for optical device testing in silicon on insulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Wafer scale testing is critical to reducing production costs and increasing production yield. Here we report a method that allows testing of individual optical components within a complex optical integrated circuit.

All‐Solution‐Processed HgTe Quantum Dot Photodetectors for Extended Short‐Wavelength Infrared Range Enhanced by Plasmonic ITO Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
All‐solution‐processed, low‐cost extended short‐wavelength infrared photodetectors are realized by coupling colloidal HgTe quantum dots to plasmonic In2O3:Sn,F nanocrystals. Localized surface plasmon resonances boost and spectrally tailor light absorption between 1500 and 3000 nm, enabling responsivities above 40 A W−1.

A modified method of variable separation for the problem of TE wave diffraction on a diffraction grating with two-layer lines in the period

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки
The diffraction of an electromagnetic TE wave on multilayer diffraction gratings with several two-layer lines in the period was investigated. Such optical structures are employed in spectral beam combining.

Grazing incidence diffraction by epitaxial multilayered gratings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Multilayered gratings have been investigated by high-resolution grazing incidence diffraction, employing non-coplanar triple crystal diffractometry. A theoretical treatment has been developed based on the distorted wave Born approximation for multilayer ...

Microscopic Origin of Temperature‐Dependent Anisotropic Heat Transport in Ultrawide‐Bandgap Rutile GeO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rutile GeO2${\rm GeO}_{2}$ exhibits orientation‐dependent heat transport with temperature‐dependent anisotropy, showing higher cross‐plane thermal conductivity along [001] than along the equivalent in‐plane [100] and [010] directions. Temperature‐dependent TDTR measurements and first‐principles phonon calculations identify the microscopic phonon ...

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Statistical Analysis of Single-Order Diffraction Grating with Quasi-Random Structures

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Single-order diffraction gratings with quasi-random structures are effective optical elements in suppressing harmonics contamination. However, background intensity fluctuations introduced by quasi-random structures may affect the measurement of the ...
