Simple expressions for diffraction loss in open resonators
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1992AbstractIn this article simple closed‐form are presented expressions to compute the diffraction loss of open resonators composed of spherical mirrors of circular cross‐section. These expressions, which are based on the numerical results of scalar theory, should be useful in designing mirror size for open resonators.

Model measurements of diffraction loss due to barriers
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1981Propagation of tone bursts from a point source have been studied in a reverberant chamber 8.5 × 14 × 7 m. The insertion loss of a 30-cm-high barrier has been measured directly over the frequency range 1 to 10 kHz using first arrivals. Preliminary results show discrepancies with predictions from theory similar to those found by outdoor measurements ...

Electron diffraction study of low loss dielectric films
Thin Solid Films, 1974Abstract Transmission electron diffraction studies of thin films of SiO and mixtures of SiO and B 2 O 3 vacuum evaporated onto air-cleaved NaCl crystals indicate that the amorphism of SiO films is increased by the addition of B 2 O 3 , and that the particle size is a minimum for 5% B 2 O 3 in the thickness range 500–1500 A.

The Dy-substituted Co1/2Ni1/2(Fe2-xDyx)O4 (0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.08) spinels were obtained in nanosized form. Correlation between chemical composition, crystal structure, magnetic properties and electrodynamics properties was investigated.

Propagation loss in multiple diffraction using ray-tracing
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium 1997. Digest, 2002In cellular systems, propagation prediction is important in determining cell area. There are two well known methods for predicting propagation loss. One uses propagation prediction formulas (empirical formulas) generated from measured field strength data, and the other method uses ray-tracing and so is based on geometrical optics (GO).

Eigenmodes diffraction losses of marginally unstable semispherical resonator
Proceedings of LFNM'2000. 2nd International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling (Cat. No.00EX419), 2002The theory of modes in open laser resonators, stable as well as unstable both has received much attention for many years, due to the usefulness of these devices. The open resonator eigenmodes may be determined by solving the free-space Maxwell equations with perfect conductor boundary conditions on the mirrors.

Diffraction loss prediction for land mobile radio communication
Proceedings of ICCS '94, 2002It is well known in land mobile communications that almost 95% of the radio links between the transmitter and receiver is non-line-of-sight. The diffraction loss plays a major role in the total propagation loss prediction. Hence, this paper examines and improves the diffraction loss predication in two main aspects.

Enhanced procedure for double diffraction losses assessment
2000Deygout's method is one of the most frequently used approximate method for calculating multiple diffraction losses, but calculated losses are, in general, overestimated. This is especially obvious when there are two obstacles relatively close to each other, and with relatively equal highs.

Diffraction Loss and Beam Size in Lasers with Spherical Mirrors
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1964The diffraction loss and beam size of the TEM00 mode in gas lasers have been determined experimentally. The results are in agreement with theoretically predicted values to within the experimental error, except that the increase in beam size with reduction of mirror size was found to be less than predicted.
