Optical Coupler Using Diffractive Optical Elements

The International Photonics and Optoelectronics Meeting (POEM), 2018
Diffractive optical element (DOE) is employed as optical coupler used in optical interconnection. A modified GS algorithm using smaller sampling size with high intensity uniformity and well suppressed side lobes is proposed to design DOE.

Diffractive optical elements for optical identification

Applied Optics, 2015
We present the design and fabrication of diffractive optical elements for optical identification purposes. Two methods for optical identification are discussed. In this feasibility study, approaches using one and two binary reflective diffraction gratings are demonstrated.

Multifunctional Diffractive Optical Elements

2017
Multifunctional DOEs are elements that can simultaneously perform various optical operations. The terms multifunctional and multiplexed diffractive optics come under the same category. Multiplexing refers primarily to spatial as well as wavelength multiplexing, where it is possible to encode several functions on the same element but extract one ...

Polarization-Sensitive Diffractive Optical Elements

Biomedical Optics and 3-D Imaging, 2010
Polarization gratings were formed on a write-once type polarization-sensitive medium and their polarization characteristics were evaluated. A circularly polarized beam splitting function was observed in an orthogonally circular polarization grating.

Elements of diffractive optics

SPIE Proceedings, 1999
Diffractive optics makes use of diffraction of light to design otpical elements and systems, which serve for imaging visual objects and transforming coherent optical beams. A diffractive structure can be computed and the pattern written using focused laser or electron beams. Phase nature of diffraction pattern is preferred.

On a diffractive optical element

2004 International Semiconductor Conference. CAS 2004 Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8748), 2005
A diffractive optical element (DOE) aimed to reshape a Gaussian laser beam into a straight uniform light line is presented. Theory, the design procedure and technology are briefly described. Moreover a binary reflective DOE using a technology based on UV lithography and wet etching have been manufactured. Despite of a lot of fabrication errors, the DOE

Testing Diffractive Optical Elements

2009
Once a surface relief pattern has been patterned in photoresist or etched into a substrate, how do you know if you have produced what you wanted? There are many different approaches to answering this question, but all of them fall into one of two categories: (1) metrological tests that measure the dimensions and geometry of the surface structures or (2)

Multi-functional diffractive optical elements

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
Diffractive optics has traditionally been used to transform a parallel beam of light into a pattern with a desired phase and intensity distribution. One of the advantages of using diffractive optics is the fact that multiple functions can be integrated into one element.

Diffractive optical elements in glass

2003
Diffractive optical elements (DOE) in glass are achieved by the means of the thermal ion exchange in a substrate glass. We report about the technical advantages and limitations for the design of DOEs in respect of this new technology. Α first application has been worked out for a Nd:YAG laser cutting Station.

Optical sectioning microscopy using diffractive optical elements

Digital Holography and 3-D Imaging 2022, 2022
Metasurfaces have demonstrated their ability to replace large refractive optical elements. In this talk, I will discuss in the detail recent applications of metalens in two optical sectioning microscopy modalities.
