Surgical Glove-Associated Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis
Cornea, 2005To demonstrate a potential cause of a prolonged epidemic of diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK).This retrospective review analyzed an epidemic of diffuse lamellar keratitis over a 3-year period in a single surgery center. Altering the brand of surgical gloves used during surgery was associated with an elimination of the DLK epidemic.

Phototherapeutic keratectomy for the treatment of diffuse lamellar keratitis
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2002We report a case of laser in situ keratomileusis in which a patient with recurrent diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) recalcitrant to standard therapy was successfully treated with phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK). The PTK was used to ablate both surfaces of the flap interface with the goal of removing DLK-inciting agents.

Cleaning Solutions as a Cause of Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2002ABSTRACT PURPOSE: To assess the capability of two microkeratome cleaning solutions in causing diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) in a rabbit model of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). METHODS: Two cleaning solutions (Palmolive 2:100 and Cidezyme 2:250) were tested. These solutions were diluted with balanced salt solution according

Epidemiological Analysis of an Outbreak of Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2011Purpose: To describe the incidence, causes, risk factors, and preventive strategies regarding an outbreak of diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK). Methods: Between March and October 2007, an epidemic of DLK was detected in one center.

Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis (DLK)
2018DLK is an early postoperative complication appearing as an inflammatory response initially in the corneal stroma followed by the flap interface. Occurrence is infrequent. Postoperative examination at 1 day after the LASIK procedure is usually diagnostic. Careful cleaning techniques and avoidance of contaminants may reduce outbreaks.

Sporadic Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis (DLK) After LASIK
Cornea, 2002To examine the incidence of sporadic diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) in a large series of LASIK eyes and to suggest the hypothesis that the etiology of sporadic DLK differs from that of epidemic DLK.The incidence and severity of DLK was noted in 1352 consecutive eyes that had primary LASIK for myopia or hyperopia and 217 consecutive eyes that had ...

Diffuse lamellar keratitis after LASIK with low-energy femtosecond laser
Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, 2021Purpose: To evaluate the incidence, evolution, and prognosis of diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) in a large series of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) with low-energy femtosecond laser. Setting: Private practice, Siena, Italy. Design:

Diffuse lamellar keratitis: sporadic and cluster forms
Russian Annals of OphthalmologyDiffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) is a known complication of lamellar corneal surgery. The underlying mechanism of the cellular response in DLK is well described. There are two clinical forms — sporadic and cluster — each largely influenced by surgical triggers. Objective.

Prophylaxis of Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis With Intraoperative Interface Steroids in LASIK
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2009Purpose: To investigate the safety and efficacy of intraoperative interface steroids for the prophylaxis of diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK). Methods: Two centers analyzed 1210 consecutive procedures in a prospective interventional trial.

Outbreak of diffuse lamellar keratitis caused by marking-pen toxicity
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2008To examine the evidence that a series of cases of diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) was caused by a type of marker pen.Eye Institute, Auckland, New Zealand.During a 10-week period, 522 consecutive LASIK procedures were performed using a 60 Hz IntraLase femtosecond laser (IntraLase Corp.) to create the LASIK ...
