Transformation and causes of death in follicular lymphoma: A Finnish nationwide population‐based study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
This large, nationwide population‐based study showed a 10‐year relative survival (RS) of follicular lymphoma (FL) at 78%. Prognosis improved over time. The 5‐ and 10‐year cumulative transformation incidences were 4.6% and 8.4% respectively. Transformation, grade 3A FL and age were associated with excess mortality.

Clinical periodontal diagnosis

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases include pathological conditions elicited by the presence of bacterial biofilms leading to a host response. In the diagnostic process, clinical signs such as bleeding on probing, development of periodontal pockets and gingival recessions, furcation involvement and presence of radiographic bone loss should be assessed prior ...

The role of the host—Neutrophil biology

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) are myeloid cells packed with lysosomal granules (hence also called granulocytes) that contain a formidable antimicrobial arsenal. They are terminally differentiated cells that play a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, as well as in the resolution of inflammation and wound ...

Prognostic significance of pretransplant 18F‐FDG PET/CT metrics in relapsed/refractory diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma with partial response to salvage chemotherapy prior to autologous stem cell transplantation

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Relapsed/refractory diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (R/R DLBCL) patients with partial response (PR) to salvage chemotherapy show heterogeneous outcomes after autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). Current visual positron emission tomography (PET) assessment inadequately identifies patients likely to benefit from transplantation.
