Anisotropy in diffusion‐weighted MRI

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1991
AbstractDiffusional anisotropy of water protons, induced by nonrandom, directional barriers which hinder or retard water motion, is measurable by MRI. Faster water diffusion was observed when the diffusion‐sensitizing gradient direction paralleled the long axes of white matter tracts, indicative of fewer bamers to water motion.

Diffusion-Weighted MRI in Acute Mutism

Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2000
Mutism defined as a complete loss of speech may be related to psychiatric or neurologic disorders. The ischemic stroke origins of mutism are often difficult to assess at the acute stage. Accordingly, the search for the underlying mechanism as the localization of the damages may be difficult by conventional radiological techniques.

Diffusion-Weighted MRI and Liver Metastases

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America, 2010
Liver metastases are the most frequently encountered malignant liver lesions in the Western countries. Accurate diagnosis of liver metastases is essential for appropriate management of these patients. Multiple imaging modalities, including ultrasound, CT, positron emission tomography, and MRI, are available for the evaluation of patients with suspected

Diffusion-weighted MRI in cervical cancer

European Radiology, 2008
The purpose was to investigate the potential value of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurement with MRI in the assessment of cervix cancer. Diffusion-weighted MRI was performed in 47 patients with cervical carcinoma undergoing chemoradiation therapy and 26 normal controls on a 1.5-T system with a b-value of 600 s/mm(2). FIGO stage, tumor volume,

Intraspinal epidermoid cyst: diffusion-weighted MRI

Neuroradiology, 2001
We report a 7-year-old boy who presented with two-month history of worsening low back and right leg pain. Conventional MR images demonstrated a poorly outlined intradural mass recognized by the displacement of the conus medullaris and the nerve roots of the cauda equina at the L2-3 level.

Diffusion-weighted MRI in paediatric neuroimaging

Clinical Radiology, 2018
Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a well-established technique in neuroimaging, but the diagnostic value of DWI outside the setting of acute infarct and abscess is sometimes under-recognised particularly in paediatric neuroimaging. DWI also plays an important role in the evaluation of intracranial infection, brain tumours, demyelinating diseases, and
