The diffusion space of data diffusion architectures
Parallel Computing, 2004Data diffusion architectures (also known as cache only memory architectures) provide a shared address space using physically distributed main memory that is associative. The associative nature of main memory decouples each address and its data item from any physical location, allowing data items to diffuse, or migrate and replicate, in any node of main

Abstract This chapter discusses the basic concepts of diffusion and self-diffusion. It derives relations between the mean square displacement of a diffusing particle, the diffusion coefficient, and the velocity-time correlation function. These relations are generalized to the case of non-equilibrium granular gases.

Diffusion, the Diffusion Coefficient, and Mechanisms of Diffusion
1970Diffusion is the way in which matter is transported through matter. It occurs by approximately random motions of the atoms in a crystal lattice. The net result of many such random movements of a large number of atoms is actual displacement of matter, the movement being activated by the thermal energy of the crystal.

Some Aspects of the Theory of Diffusion and Diffusers
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1969Fundamental theoretical considerations strongly imply that the degree of diffusion of a sound field in a reverberation room can be satisfactorily defined only when the degree of averaging (over either space or frequency, or both), inherently present in whatever measurement is under consideration, is included explicitly in the definition.

Diffusion, Chemical Reaction and Facilitated Diffusion
1972Investigators of transport phenomena in membranes have long been interested not only in the permeation or diffusion of one particular substance as such but also in its possible reaction with a carrier which may lead to facilitated diffusion of the substance across the membrane.

Diffusion coefficient in photon diffusion theory
Optics Letters, 2000The choice of the diffusion coefficient to be used in photon diffusion theory has been a subject of discussion in recent publications on tissue optics. We compared several diffusion coefficients with the apparent diffusion coefficient from the more fundamental transport theory, D(app).
