β-Diketonate, β-Ketoiminate, and β-Diiminate Complexes of Difluoroboron

open access: yes, 2008
A series of β-diketonate, keto(aryl)iminato, and β-bis(aryl)iminato complexes of difluoroboron, twenty in total, have been prepared to assess the impact of chelate ring and aniline substitution on the structural, electrochemical, and photophysical ...

Threading a Linear Molecule Through a Macrocycle Thanks to Boron: Optical Properties of the Threaded Species and Synthesis of a Rotaxane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 12, March 18, 2024.
Boron‐containing species were threaded through macrocycles bearing a 2,2’‐biphenol unit. The new threaded species exhibited interesting fluorescence features with quantum yields up to 91 % and an enhanced photostability. Their properties were rationalized with quantum chemistry to unravel the vibronic contributions.

Novel Lysosomal Targeting Two-Photon Fluorescence Probe Based on Fluorene Difluoroboron β-diketonate

open access: yes, 2013
We report the synthesis and photophysical characteristics of a two photon fluorescent (2PF) fluorene-based pyridyl difluoroboron-β-diketonate, which when incubated in HCT 116 cells shows superior accumulation in lysosomes in both isolate and encapsulated

Amplified Heavy-Atom Free Phosphorescence from meta-Dimethoxy Difluoroboron β‑Diketonate Charge-Transfer Materials

open access: yes, 2019
Difluoroboron β-diketonate materials are used for biomedical oxygen-sensing applications. These fluorophores show both fluorescence (F) and phosphorescence (P) when the dye is embedded in a polymer matrix.

New Approach to Unsymmetric Curcuminoids and Their BF2‐derivatized Fluorophores

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 42, November 10, 2025.
The synthesis of asymmetric curcuminoids can be successfully achieved through a ketal intermediate, which is then condensed with one aldehyde, followed by hydrolysis and complexation with BF3·THF. Further condensation with a different aldehyde produces an asymmetric BF2‐curcuminoid derivative.

Effects of α‑Substitution on Mechanochromic Luminescence and Aggregation-Induced Emission of Difluoroboron β‑Diketonate Dyes

open access: yes, 2016
Though the effects of arene substituents on difluoroboron β-diketonate (BF2bdk) mechanochromic luminescence (ML) are known, substitution at the α carbon of the dioxaborine ring has yet to be carefully investigated.

Dual-Emissive Difluoroboron Naphthyl-Phenyl β‑Diketonate Polylactide Materials: Effects of Heavy Atom Placement and Polymer Molecular Weight

open access: yes, 2015
Luminescent materials are important for imaging and sensing. Aromatic difluoroboron β-diketonate complexes (BF2bdks) are classic fluorescent molecules that have been explored as photochemical reagents, two-photon dyes, and oxygen sensors.

Boosting Organic Afterglow Performance via a Two-Component Design Strategy Extracted from Macromolecular Self-Assembly

open access: yes, 2022
Because intersystem crossing and phosphorescence decay are spin-forbidden in organic systems, it is challenging to obtain high-performance organic afterglow materials.

Organic Mechanochromic Luminescent Materials with Self‐Recovering Characters

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 89, Issue 12, December 2024.
This concept article summarizes recent advancements in self‐recovering mechanochromic luminescent organic materials, which spontaneously restore their original emission colors even under ambient conditions after mechanical stimulus. The reported materials are categorized according to the central core structures, and several strategies to induce and ...
