Oogenesis in the hermaphroditic Digenea (Trematoda)

During the present century oogenesis and maturation have been extensively studied in the Digenea. The earlier observations, however, were based on limited methods of histological and cytological techniques and were concerned principally with the general features of the germ-cells and with their chromosomes.

49 species of paramphistomatate trematodes were found in domestic animals of Vietnam based on own and published data. This number is almost one half of the total number of these parasites found in Asia on the whole. Extremely high level of infection of domestic animals is registered in the area.
