The aim of our study was to evaluate the video fiberoscope with operator canal (FOC) in he diagnosis of head and neck carcinoma compared to direct laryngoscopy (DL).From August 2000 to May 2001, 82 patients were included in a prospective study. They were examined for pharyngolaryngeal cancer with the FOC, DL and a CAT-SCAN.

The comparative assessment of the methods of direct and indirect chromoendoscopy is given. It is shown, that a method of direct endoscopy with washing clean the mucosa by the antifomsilan solution is the most convenient in mass examination of the patients, and permits to enhance considerably the quality of endoscopic investigations.
