Selection of host nests by intraspecific nest-parasitic digger wasps

Abstract Abstract. This paper demonstrates that intraspecific nest parasites are selective in their choice of host nests. In a large nest aggregation, instead of digging new burrows, nest-less females of the digger wasp Cerceris arenaria entered pre-existing burrows and eventually used one of them.
