近年のディジタル技術の進展により,マルチメディア・ディジタルコンテンツのパッケージ流通および電子流通が期待されている。一方では,ディジタル化によりコンテンツの違法コピーに対する著作権問題が顕在化している。本稿では,著作権保護技術として注目されている電子透かしをコピー制御情報として用い,違法コピーの防止とコピーの世代管理を行う著作権保護システムについて,システムへの要求用件ならびにコンテンツの各種流通形態への適応性を述べる。具体例としてMPEG-2動画の代表的なパッケージメディアであるDVDでの検討例,さらにネットワークによる電子流通への拡張性を取り上げ,本著作権保護システムの有効性を述べる。
