We have studied the stress-induced martensitic transformation behaviors and the associated elastocaloric effect (eCE) for non-textured polycrystalline all-d-metal Heusler alloys of Ni50Mn32Ti18 and Ni35Co15Mn35Ti15 by a combination of Digital Image ...

In order to detect the occurrence of failure in a material, visual observation is a very intuitive approach. Although global failure is many times easier to observe visually, more dedicated analysis is required to detect small changes indicating the occurrence of first failure.

The technique of digital image correlation (DIC), which has been widely used for noncontact deformation measurements in both the scientific and engineering fields, is greatly affected by the quality of speckle patterns in terms of its performance.

Digital Image Correlation and Color Cameras
Experimental Mechanics, 2017Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is a well-known experimental technique. It works by constructing a (surjective) mapping of pixel intensity from reference to target image, where the mapping parameters are identified using a Least Squares approach.

Digital image correlation for structural measurements
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Civil Engineering, 2012Digital image correlation is an optical imaging technique that compares images taken of a structure and is well established for laboratory measurements. By processing pairs of images under different loading conditions, the full-field deformation of the structure can be measured.

Overview of Digital Image Correlation
2015This chapter provides an introduction to the methods for measuring the field of displacement and strain on the surface of a specimen by means of digital image correlation (DIC) techniques. Both its two-dimensional and three-dimensional versions are presented. A simplified overview of the algorithms underlying such a method is provided.

Calibration of a Digital Image Correlation System
Experimental Techniques, 2012The use and results of the procedure published by Standardisation Project for Optical Techniques of Strain measurement (SPOTS) for a successful calibration of a digital image correlation (DIC) system are described. The details of the calibration specimen used are discussed together with procedure and criteria that must be met to achieve an acceptable ...
