Digital mobile radio communication
23rd IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 1972This thesis is aimed at the problem of quickly and accurately communicating digital data between fixed and mobile (either vehicle-mounted or hand-held) radio stations. Digital error is of prime concern and the effects which multipath propagation, Gaussian noise, and implusive noise have on digital errors are analyzed.

Radio Frequency IdentificationTechnology in Digital Government
2007Following technical strides in radio and radar in the 1930s and 1940s, the 1950s were a period of exploration for radio frequency identity (RFID) technology as shown by the landmark development of the long-range transponder systems for the “identification, friend or foe” for aircraft.

Radio broadcasting’s digital dilemma
Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies, 2012Although digital radio broadcasting has undergone significant development over the last quarter-century, no single protocol is poised to break out as a bona fide replacement for traditional analogue radio services. This article illuminates the history and status of radio’s digital transition in an effort to understand its stagnancy.

The Navy's Use of Digital Radio
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1979Since the early 1960's, the Navy has utilized digital data links in support of their Tactical Communication, Command and Control Systems. Most of these systems continue to be used operationally. They include links 4, 11, and 14. These systems, however, lack the ability of combatting the anticipated electronic warfare threat as well as providing the ...

Digital Implementation of Radio Functions
2018INTRODUCTION Although this book has hardly been reticent on the important role of digital signal processing (DSP) in modern radio systems, we have bypassed many of the details so far. In this chapter we circle back to the topic of digital implementation of some principal radio functions. There are essentially three broad categories of

IEE Review, 1997
The author describes the progress made in digital radio since the launch of a BBC pilot service in the UK in September 1995. Digital radio was launched in the London area in September 1995 with five transmitters working as a single frequency network, offering Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live and additional experimental services.

Advances in Digital Radio Systems
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1973This paper examines the analog methods presently used in carrying digital signal via the terrestrial microwave radio relay systems. It then summarized the state of the art of two proposed digital radio systems, operating above and below 10 GHz. It also highlights some of the problem areas yet to be solved, with particular emphasis on these design ...
