Nonstationary Stochastic Simulation of Strong Ground-Motion Time Histories : Application to the Japanese Database [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
For earthquake-resistant design, engineering seismologists employ time-history analysis for nonlinear simulations. The nonstationary stochastic method previously developed by Pousse et al. (2006) has been updated.

Gallium Nitride Semiconductor Resonant Tunneling Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Three‐terminal GaN semiconductor resonant tunneling transistors (RTTs), which comprise an double‐barrier AlN/GaN/AlN resonant tunneling diode integrated with a GaN high‐electron‐mobility transistor (HEMT) through epitaxial growth in series and parallel configuraions, respectively.

Rock and Core Repository Coming Digital

open access: yes, 2016
In times of whole city centres being available by a mouse click in 3D to virtually walk through, reality sometimes becomes neglected. The reality of scientific sample collections not being digitised to the essence of molecules, isotopes and electrons becomes unbelievable to the upgrowing generation of scientists.

How Organizational Inefficiency Adversely Affects Number-of-Employee Based Production Outputs

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Vasile Goldis Arad, Seria Stiinte Economice
This study uses an analytical approach to investigate the emerging disconnect between firm size and financial performance, as observed recently from a set of long-term data collected from U.S. public firms. By holding all organizational aspects of a firm

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

CARING: Cannula for Alleviation of Retinal Injury Caused by Needle Fluidic Gashing

open access: yesBioengineering
Infusion-related iatrogenic retinal breaks (IRBs) are a significant complication in vitrectomies, particularly when smaller-gauge cannulas are used during fluid infusion.

OCTN2 Activates a Non‐Canonical Carnitine Metabolic Pathway to Promote MASH‐HCC Progression and Immunotherapy Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In non‐MASH‐HCC, L‐carnitine promotes tumor progression primarily through its classical role in enhancing fatty acid oxidation (FAO). However, in MASH‐HCC, where FAO is markedly suppressed, L‐carnitine shifts from this canonical function to serve instead as an intracellular acetyl group buffer.

Comparative analysis and verification on broken rock zone of model test based on multiple testing methods

open access: yesScientific Reports
There is no mature method for identifying and monitoring the broken rock zone. Taking the two-level west wing track roadway of Chengjiao Coal Mine as the engineering background, the model tests with four schemes were carried out, and the broken rock zone
