Terrain Synthesis from Digital Elevation Models

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2007
In this paper, we present an example-based system for terrain synthesis. In our approach, patches from a sample terrain (represented by a height field) are used to generate a new terrain. The synthesis is guided by a user-sketched feature map that specifies where terrain features occur in the resulting synthetic terrain.

Digital terrain models

1992
The geometric observables in geodesy, which can be determined by eg surveying and photogrammetry, are all simple, or more complex functions of relative position of two points. They are influenced by various physical fields, like the earth's gravitational field and the field of atmospheric refraction.

Digital Terrain Modelling with Geostatistics

2001
Digital Surface Models (DSM) are widely used for many applications (deriving contour and slope maps, orthoimages, building extraction, …). To utilise DSMs effectively, it is necessary to ensure that they are accurate enough to meet the requirements of our pecific application.

Digital Modelling of Terrain Surface

2017
The digital terrain modelling is a crucial issue in visualization of the forestry and urban areas. Among the digital evaluation, surface, and terrain models, the last ones play the significant role in the GIS applications. The challenges of a terrain modelling lead to the development of complex artificial and statistical methods that include a ...
