Modeling of Lunar Digital Terrain Entropy and Terrain Entropy Distribution Model

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2021
The lunar surface has complex geomorphic characteristics. Since the lunar terrain entropy can reflect the amount of geomorphic information contained in the lunar terrain, this article uses the ratio of the elevation value of a local point on the lunar surface to the total elevation value of the neighborhood to calculate the local terrain entropy value ...

Digital Terrain Modeling

Geomorphology, 2012
Abstract This article examines how the methods and data sources used to generate DEMs and calculate land surface parameters have changed over the past 25 years. The primary goal is to describe the state-of-the-art for a typical digital terrain modeling workflow that starts with data capture, continues with data preprocessing and DEM generation, and ...

Digital Terrain Modelling

1996
This chapter presents a review of available techniques for generating Digital Terrain Model (DTM). It starts by analyzing data capture methods and shows differences between them in terms of accuracy and precision of the derived DTM and of optimal strategies for capturing morphologic features of study area.

Digital Terrain Model

2016
The digital terrain model (DTM) is one of the basic data sets for the characterisation of the process pixel of the DANUBIA model. It is fundamental for describing vertical and lateral processes in the study area. Its accuracy is of utmost importance for the modelling and the exchange of water flow between the DANUBIA model objects, Soil, Rivernetwork ...

Managing the complexity of digital terrain models

Computers & Graphics, 1994
Abstract Today, the surface of our planet can be sampled extremely accurately. Also, the need for information about the topography within specified regions becomes increasingly important in geographic information systems. Meaning can often only be extracted from certain data in combination with the digital terrain models. In particular, visualization

Terrain Synthesis from Digital Elevation Models

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2007
In this paper, we present an example-based system for terrain synthesis. In our approach, patches from a sample terrain (represented by a height field) are used to generate a new terrain. The synthesis is guided by a user-sketched feature map that specifies where terrain features occur in the resulting synthetic terrain.

Digital Modelling of Terrain Surface

2017
The digital terrain modelling is a crucial issue in visualization of the forestry and urban areas. Among the digital evaluation, surface, and terrain models, the last ones play the significant role in the GIS applications. The challenges of a terrain modelling lead to the development of complex artificial and statistical methods that include a ...
