Rib Suppression in Digital Chest Tomosynthesis

open access: yes, 2022
Digital chest tomosynthesis (DCT) is a technique to produce sectional 3D images of a human chest for pulmonary disease screening, with 2D X-ray projections taken within an extremely limited range of angles. However, under the limited angle scenario, DCT contains strong artifacts caused by the presence of ribs, jamming the imaging quality of the lung ...

Consistent performance between medical experts and non‐expert readers in forced‐choice lesion‐detection tasks with PET images

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Background Labeled data are used to train, validate, and test deep learning model observers (DLMOs) as well as linear model observers, such as channelized Hotelling observers (CHOs), for image quality assessment in many imaging modalities, including PET imaging. Ideally, these annotations would come from clinical readers, but these readers are

Clinical Application of 3D‐Printed Custom Hemipelvic Prostheses With Re‐Entrant Chiral Structure in Reconstruction After Pelvic Tumor Resection

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 11, Page 3067-3077, November 2025.
Novel 3D‐printed hemipelvic prostheses incorporating re‐entrant chiral structure achieved 75% porosity while maintaining structural integrity. Clinical outcomes demonstrated 86.7% disease‐free survival and significant functional improvement (MSTS‐93: 14.4→25.7) in pelvic malignancy reconstruction.

Dynamic Properties of Flat-Panel X-Ray Image Sensors With Mercury Iodide Photoconductors Undergoing Repeated X-Ray Irradiation

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2017
A screen-printed mercury iodide (HgI2) photoconductor for digital tomosynthesis exhibits considerably reduced signals when subjected to consecutive exposures to X-ray irradiation. This behavior accounts for the trapping of charges generated on previous X-

Digital breast tomosynthesis compared to digital mammography in a series of Egyptian women with pathologically proven breast cancer

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2015
Background: Breast cancer has a high prevalence in Egyptian women representing a major health problem for the patients and the community. Mammography is the primary modality in breast imaging inspite of its well-known limitations.

Analysis of variation coefficient of SNR in phantom-based mammography quality control [PDF]

open access: yesZhongguo aizheng zazhi
Background and purpose: In the quality control of mammography, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) refers to the ratio of the useful signal intensity to the background noise in the image, which is one of the important indicators for measuring the quality of ...
