Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) Applications

2005
The topic of Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) applications (including both infrastructures and services) is a very broad one. It encompasses not only the transmission and distribution of television-program material in digital format over various media, but also a range of related features designed to exploit the capabilities of all possible underlying ...

Digital Video Broadcast: Systems and Implementations

2009
Terrestrial broadcasting has brought entertainment and media information to mass audiences around the world for nearly a century. In the last two decades, the demand for consumption of multimedia services anywhere anytime has increased greatly. Because the spectrum resource is limited, a new spectrum efficient broadcasting technology is required to ...

Temporal video transcoding for Digital TV broadcasting

2012 5th Joint IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (WMNC), 2012
Mobile Digital TV environments demand flexible video compression like Scalable Video Coding (SVC) because of varying bandwidths and devices. Since existing infrastructures highly rely on H.264/AVC video compression, network providers could adapt the current H.264/AVC encoded video to SVC.

Digital Video Recording for Television Broadcasting

Journal of the SMPTE, 1975
Videotape recorders have existed since 1956 and over the years have been perfected to the point where they provide a virtually “transparent” storage medium; the average viewer cannot distinguish a taped production from a live one. Nevertheless, the supremacy of these conventional analog VTRs is about to be challenged by rapidly developing digital ...

Research of watermarking in digital video broadcasting

6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002., 2003
In order to deal with copyright issues in the digital video broadcasting (DVB) environment, an MPEG domain watermarking algorithm is proposed. The watermark is embedded by modulation of certain DCT coefficients. The threshold of the detector is dynamically adjusted along the time-axis to fit the frame characteristics.

Reading Two Digital Video Clocks for Broadcast Basketball Videos

2018
This paper presents an algorithm for reading two digital video clocks of broadcast basketball videos by using context-aware pixel periodicity method and deep learning technique. Reading two digital video clocks is a very challenge problem as a difficulty special case of reading video text. The first challenge task is the clock digit localization.

Digital video broadcasting by satellite

1999
This Chapter reviews low-bit-rate digital transmission of television signals on satellites and placed it in a context of existing and developing television standards and a changing regulatory environment. Some of the systems aspects have been discussed and particular details of practical satellite systems already available commercially have been given.

Enhanced services in digital video broadcasting networks

2009 IEEE 13th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics, 2009
The established digital video broadcasting networks can do more than transmit the ordinary TV program to the viewer's living room. The future of digital television will be interactive. Especially for local communities or people who are not familiar with computers, local cable networks can be an interesting alternative to the global Internet. We present
