Abstract Establishing forage in loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations has the potential to increase grazing acreage for cattle farms in the Mid‐South, but appropriate species selection still requires investigation. The objective was to evaluate forage mass, accumulation, and nutritive value of four perennial forage species, novel‐endophyte tall ...

Corn tolerance and weed control with amicarbazone and metribuzin applied preemergence
Abstract Since the late 1950s, atrazine has been a cornerstone of corn (Zea mays L.) weed control, but decades of use have raised concerns about groundwater contamination and enhanced biodegradation. Therefore, amicarbazone and metribuzin were evaluated as alternatives to preemergence use of atrazine in corn.

Numbers of weed seedbank in maize field crop [PDF]
A large seed production and the efficient propagation ensure the survival of weeds. After spreading most of the seed reaches the soil, and therefore weed seedbank are the main source of weed.

Basic chromosome numbers and polyploid levels in some South African and Australian grasses (Poaceae)
Chromosome numbers of 46 specimens of grasses, involving 24 taxa from South Africa and Australia, have been determined during the present study. For the first time chromosome numbers are given for Eragrostis sarmentosa (Thunb.) Trin. (n = 20).

Germination Requirements and Management Implications for Kyllinga gracillima (False Green Kyllinga)
ABSTRACT Understanding weed biology, particularly factors influencing seed germination, can help develop effective weed management strategies. This research evaluated the effects of temperature, light, and water stress on the germination of Kyllinga gracillima (false green kyllinga). Seeds collected in Indiana (IN) and New Jersey (NJ) were subjected to

Abstract Large herbivores are among the most ecologically influential and extinction‐prone animals. Megaherbivores, in particular, radically alter vegetation. Yet, few studies have tried to predict the impacts of herbivores—or their extinction—on plant species composition and community structure.
