Chemical Characterization and Allelopathic Effects of Ambrosia psilostachya (Asteraceae). [PDF]
ABSTRACT Ambrosia spp. have been introduced and distributed across different continents as an invasive alien plant species. The present study aimed to identify the chemical components of essential oil isolated from different parts of Ambrosia psilostachya and evaluate the phytotoxic effect of its aqueous extracts on the growth parameters of Phaseolus ...

A Geminivirus, Serologically Related to Maize Streak Virus, from Digitaria sanguinalis from Vanuatu
SUMMARY Electron microscopy of purified particles of a virus found in Dig#aria sanguinalis from Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides) indicated that it is a geminivirus. Preparations of virus particles contained one coat protein of tool. wt. about 27 500 and circular and linear single-stranded DNA about 2350 nucleotides in length.

Mesocotyl elongation in Digitaria sanguinalis during seedling development [PDF]
The mesocotyl is an embryonic organ present in Poaceae that plays an important role in seedling emergence. The elongation of this first internode contributes decisively to the coleoptile reaching the soil surface. This study examines the process of mesocotyl elongation under controlled conditions in three caryopsis collection sites of Digitaria ...

Cloning and characterization of a phospholipase C from the C 4 plant Digitaria sanguinalis [PDF]
As a PLC activity was implicated in the light transduction pathway that controls C(4) photosynthesis in Digitaria sanguinalis, a full length PLC cDNA (DsPLC2) was cloned. The proteins encoded by the two possible open reading frames were produced in Escherichia coli; they both harbour a PLC activity but with different response to Ca(2+) concentration ...
