Incorporation of palmitate- 1 -C14 into neutral lipid of rat diaphragm*
When excised rat diaphragms are incubated with palmitate-l-C14, radioactivity is found in triglyceride, diglyceride, and monoglyceride. The specific activity of diglyceride exceeds that of triglyceride after the various time periods studied.

The diglyceride kinase of rat cerebral cortex [PDF]
1. Formation of phosphatidic acid by diglyceride kinase (EC 2.7.1.-) in the presence of ATP and Mg2+ was shown in a homogenate and subcellular fractions of rat cerebral cortex. 2. The kinase was activated by Mg2+. Ca2+ activated to a smaller extent but was inhibitory in the presence of optimum concentration of Mg2+.

Early effects of lipolysis on the structure of chylomicrons in vitro were studied in rat chylomicrons incubated with purified bovine mild lipoprotein lipase at pH 8.1. The amount of the albumin added to the incubation medium was limited so that freefatty

Lipid composition of chloroplasts isolated by aqueous and nonaqueous techniques
Chloroplasts isolated from tobacco leaves in 0.5 m sucrose solution (the 1000 g pellet) contained 83% of the total cellular monogalactosyl diglyceride, 88% of the digalactosyl diglyceride, 76% of the sulfolipid, and 74% of the phosphatidyl glycerol ...

The enzymes of phospholipid synthesis in Clostridium butyricum
We have examined extracts of Clostridium butyricum for several enzymes of phospholipid synthesis. Membrane particles were shown to catalyze the formation of CDP-diglyceride from [3H]CTP and phosphatidic acid.

A complete procedure to prepare a highly labeled phosphatidyl-L-[U-14C]serine possessing the same fatty acid composition of brain phospholipids is reported. CDP-diglyceride was synthesized by reaction between phosphatidic acid and CMP-morpholidate as the

Biosynthesis of phosphatidylcholine by enzyme preparations from spinach leaves
The enzymic incorporation of choline-1,2-14C from CDP-choline-1,2-14C into phosphatidylcholine by spinach leaf preparations was characterized. The enzyme catalyzing the incorporation, choline phosphotransferase, had a pH optimum of about 8.0 and required ...

Isolation and fatty acid composition of the plant sulfolipid and galactolipids*
The plant sulfolipid has been isolated from Chlorella pyrenoidosa cells and from alfalfa leaves by chromatography on Florisil and DEAE cellulose columns.
