N‐Heterocyclic Tetrylenes with a 1,1′‐Ferrocenylene Backbone and Bis(2,4,6‐triisopropylphenyl)boryl N‐Substituents

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
Ferrocene‐based N‐heterocyclic tetrylenes [Fe{(η5‐C5H4)NBTrip2}2E](E = GePb; Trip = C6H2‐2,4,6‐iPr3)exhibit long EN and short BN bonds, in agreement with increased electrophilicity due to the ‐M effect of the N‐substituents, whose stericdemand prevents coordination of 4‐(dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) to theplumbylene PbII atom, but allows the ...

Combustion Performance of Silicone Rubber Polymer Insulation Material Under Damp‐Heat Ageing Conditions: Molecular Insights Into the Effects of Structural Changes on Macroscopic Properties

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicone rubber (SR), an organic silicon polymer material, is known for its excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties. It is widely used in composite insulators and cable accessory materials. However, the ageing caused by humidity and heat significantly impacts its performance, an issue that cannot be ignored. This paper investigates

Critical evaluation of three cryo‐EM structures of particulate methane monooxygenase by quantum refinement

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, EarlyView.
We have studied the copper sites in three cryogenic electron‐microscopy structures of particulate methane monooxygenase with quantum refinement. We show that the CuA, CuC and CuD sites are correctly modelled and that the CuB site is mononuclear in all structures, whereas we find no support for copper in the suggested trinuclear active site or two sites

Structural and functional dissection of the WH2/DAD motif of INF2, a formin linked to human inherited degenerative disorders

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The INF2 WH2/DAD domain, composed of hydrophobic and basic regions, forms a single α‐helix in solution. The hydrophobic segment is essential for INF2 function, as its deletion disrupts actin dynamics and causes nuclear abnormalities, like those seen in pathogenic INF2 DID variants. In contrast, natural INF2 WH2/DAD variants found in patients with renal
