Vibrational Circular Dichroism Spectra of 2,5‐Diaminoterephtalate Macrocycles Reveal Distant Vibrational Exciton Coupling

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The energy level diagrams for the ν(C═O) and the δ(N─H) vibrations, resulting of combining in‐phase and out‐of‐phase modes on the basis of their local symmetries, was built by applying the exciton coupling theory to a new class of chiral macrocycles, based on the 2,5‐diaminoterephthalate scaffold.

Reversible Assembly and Disassembly of σ‐Aromatic B3 Rings

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
B3 rings are the smallest σ‐aromatic boron compounds. Here, we show for the first time that cationic diboranes with an electron‐precise (2c,2e) bond can be reversibly converted to σ‐aromatic B3 rings with electron‐deficient (3c,2e) bonding. Base‐induced disassembly of the B3 ring leads back to cationic diboranes and monoborane adducts.

Light, Redox, and Ligand Noninnocence Cooperate in Naphthalene Diimide‐Functionalized N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Iridium Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Naphthalene diimide–N‐heterocyclic carbene iridium complexes display uncommon multistimuli‐responsive behavior combining strong Cl(lp)···π interactions, ligand non‐innocence, visible‐light photoreduction, and conPET photocatalysis. The study also provides new insight into the interaction of NDI platforms with fluoride/basic anions, revealing unexpected

Regioisomerism Rewires Optical and Ion Recognition Properties in Azulenylsumanenes—Curved Non‐Alternant π‐Systems

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Regioisomerism rewires orbital topology and electronic polarity in curved non‐alternant π‐systems, switching both optical response and alkali metal ion recognition from Na+ to Rb+ selectivity. ABSTRACT Herein, we explore the fundamental concept of combining the molecular curvature of a molecular fragment of buckminsterfullerene with the pronounced ...

Bio‐Inspired Sclerotization of Lignin: A Robust Adhesive for Photothermal Wood‐Based Panels

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A high‐performance lignin adhesive is engineered via an insect‐inspired sclerotization strategy involving oxidation and hyperbranched polymer grafting, overcoming lignin's adhesion failure, and yielding a wet shear strength of 1.02–1.21 MPa. The adhesive endows wood‐based panels with photothermal functionality; building energy simulations indicate HVAC‐
