This study performed a comprehensive analysis of cuproptosis‐related genes (CRGs) in IDH1‐mutant glioma samples from the TCGA database. Two novel IDH1‐mutant glioma subtypes were identified based on CRG expression patterns. FDX1 and SLC31A1 were identified as key regulators.

Camelina circRNA landscape: Implications for gene regulation and fatty acid metabolism
Abstract Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are closed‐loop RNAs forming a covalent bond between their 3′ and 5′ ends, the back splice junction (BSJ), rendering them resistant to exonucleases and thus more stable compared to linear RNAs. Identification of circRNAs and distinction from their cognate linear RNA is only possible by sequencing the BSJ that is unique

Nitric oxide (NO) is a poisonous free radical made by phagocytic cells to combat pathogens. Richardson et al. (2011) show that the Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium lipoamide dehydrogenase is a target for the nitrosative stress exerted by NO and ...

Mechanism of reconstitution/activation of the soluble PQQ-dependent glucose dehydrogenase from Acinetobacter calcoaceticus: a comprehensive study [PDF]
The ability to switch on the activity of an enzyme through its spontaneous reconstitution has proven to be a valuable tool in fundamental studies of enzyme structure/reactivity relationships or in the design of artificial signal transduction systems in bioelectronics, synthetic biology, or bioanalytical applications.

Do not forget interaction: Predicting fatality of COVID-19 patients using logistic regression [PDF]
Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, whether COVID-19 patients with high risks can be recovered or not depends, to a large extent, on how early they will be treated appropriately before irreversible consequences are caused to the patients by the virus. In this research, we reported an explainable, intuitive, and accurate machine learning model based on ...

The dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (LpdA) from the tellurite-resistant bacterium Aeromonas caviae ST reduces tellurite to elemental tellurium. To characterize this NADH-dependent activity, the A. caviae lpdA gene was subjected to site-directed mutagenesis and genes containing C45A, H322Y and E354K substitutions were individually transformed into ...

Mitochondrial alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex generates reactive oxygen species [PDF]
Mitochondria-produced reactive oxygen species (ROS) are thought to contribute to cell death caused by a multitude of pathological conditions. The molecular sites of mitochondrial ROS production are not well established but are generally thought to be ...

Mitochondrial Oxygen Consumption by the Foreskin and its Fibroblast-rich Culture
Objectives: This study investigated the feasibility of using a phosphorescence oxygen analyser to measure cellular respiration (mitochondrial O2 consumption) in foreskin samples and their fibroblast-rich cultures. Methods: Foreskin specimens from normal ...

Human Pleural Fluid Elicits Pyruvate and Phenylalanine Metabolism in Acinetobacter baumannii to Enhance Cytotoxicity and Immune Evasion [PDF]
The CCAAT box-harboring proteins represent a family of heterotrimeric transcription factors which is highly conserved in eukaryotes. In fungi, one of the particularly important homologs of this family is the Hap complex that separates the DNA-binding ...
