Diketopyrrolopyrrole Polymers for Organic Solar Cells

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2015
Conjugated polymers have been extensively studied for application in organic solar cells. In designing new polymers, particular attention has been given to tuning the absorption spectrum, molecular energy levels, crystallinity, and charge carrier mobility to enhance performance. As a result, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of solar cells based

Anion−π Interaction in a Diketopyrrolopyrrole Derivative

Organic Letters, 2023
In this work, an N-substituted diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) derivative Ph-DPP was synthesized, showing interaction toward Lewis alkaline anions such as F-. The typical electron-transfer-dominated anion-π interaction product Ph-DPP•- and unexpected isomer product i-Ph-DPP were both observed, and their formation mechanism was studied by density functional ...

N‐Arylation of Diketopyrrolopyrroles with Aryl Triflates

Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2020
AbstractA new methodology for the double N‐arylation of diketopyrrolopyrroles with aryl triflates has been developed. It is now possible to prepare diketopyrrolopyrroles bearing N‐substituents derived from naphthalene, anthracene and coumarin in two steps from commercially available phenols. This represents the first time arenes lacking strong electron‐

Resonant Transport in Single Diketopyrrolopyrrole Junctions

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
We study the single-molecule transport properties of small bandgap diketopyrrolopyrrole oligomers (DPP n, n = 1-4) with lengths varying from 1 to 5 nm. At a low bias voltage, the conductance decays exponentially as a function of length indicative of nonresonant transport.

Complete Set of Diketopyrrolopyrrole Centrosymmetrical Cofacial Stacked Pairs

ChemPhysChem, 2022
AbstractStacked centrosymmetrical dimers and simultaneously H‐bonded and stacked hexamers of thiophene‐substituted diketopyrrolopyrrole (ThDPP) were studied using DFT as models for crystals with slipped‐stacked molecules in 1D columns. Eight stacked dimer arrangements were found, six of which are driven by the minimisation of electron repulsion and ...

Diketopyrrolopyrroles as Acceptor Materials in Organic Photovoltaics

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2010
AbstractIn the search of new electron acceptor, n‐type materials for organic solar cells that combine a strong absorption over a broad range with good electrical characteristics, the use of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) derivatives with low reduction potentials is explored.

Diketopyrrolopyrrole-based acceptor polymers for photovoltaic application

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011
Developing new acceptor materials as alternatives to fullerene acceptors remains a challenge in the field of organic photovoltaics. We report on the synthesis and optoelectronic properties of three acceptor polymers bearing diketopyrrolopyrrole units in the main chain (PA, PB and PC).

Diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based materials for organic photovoltaics

Chemical Communications, 2012
Diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) pigments have been widely used in inks, paints, and plastics since it was first developed back in the early 1970s. The DPP-based materials were gradually exploited by optical and electrical applications for the excellent fluorescent properties and good charge carrier mobility.

Novel Adamantane Asymmetrically Substituted Diketopyrrolopyrroles

2020
The effect of the alkylation and solubilization ethyladamantyl side chains to diketopyrrolopyrroles (DPPs) on the thermal and optical properties was systematically investigated. Nucleophilic substitution of various alkyl chains into the DPP molecule is a powerful tool for increasing solubility and processability of these pigments, leading to their ...

Diketopyrrolopyrrole: Adjustment of Molecular Properties

2018 IEEE 7th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC) (A Joint Conference of 45th IEEE PVSC, 28th PVSEC & 34th EU PVSEC), 2018
Four derivatives of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) end-capped with benzofuran, benzooxazol, benzothiofen or benzothiazol were used as electron donating material in bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (BHJ OSC). The derivatives were designed to provide increased open circuit voltage due to lower HOMO and thus to approach ideal molecular energy leveling.
