Hospital Practice, 1998A 36-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with right hip pain of one week's duration. An x-ray of the hip was unremarkable. She was diagnosed with trochanteric bursitis, given ibuprofen (800 mg tid) and crutches, and sent home. The next day, continual pain and progressive functional impairment prompted her to see an orthopedist.

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 19620 u R interest in using local anesthesia for dilatation and curettage was first stimulated by the 1960 report of Mengert and Slate1 who described their technique in performing this procedure in their Outpatient Clinic. They injected 10 to 20 ml. of procaine 1 per cent into the base of each broad ligament.

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1977This study reports the outcome of 2,500 consecutive second-trimester abortions performed with the dilatation and curettage methods. Of the abortions, 99.2 per cent were for gestations between the fifteenth and eighteenth menstrual weeks of pregnancy.
