Test Matter in a Spacetime with Nonmetricity

open access: yes, 1996
Examples in which spacetime might become non-Riemannian appear above Planck energies in string theory or, in the very early universe, in the inflationary model.

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Influence Analysis and Stepwise Regression of Coal Mechanical Parameters on Uniaxial Compressive Strength Based on Orthogonal Testing Method

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and peak strain (PS) are essential indices for studying the mechanical properties of coal and rock masses, and they are closely related to mechanical parameters such as the elastic modulus (E), Poisson’s ratio (υ ...

The maximal acceleration, Extended Relativistic Dynamics and Doppler type shift for an accelerated source

open access: yes, 2010
Based on the generalized principle of relativity and the ensuing symmetry, we have shown that there are only two possible types of transformations between uniformly accelerated systems.

Schrodinger Equation in Dilated Frame

open access: yes, 2019
There has been interest in the form of the Schrodinger equation in different noninertial frames for many decades, especially the rotating frame. Recently, transforming from one frame to another is described by using Lorentz boosts followed by a nonrelativistic limit (1).

PiP‐Plex: A Particle‐in‐Particle System for Multiplexed Quantification of Proteins Secreted by Single Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Detecting proteins secreted by a single cell while retaining its viability remains challenging. A particles‐in‐particle (PiPs) system made by co‐encapsulating barcoded microparticles (BMPs) with a single cell inside an alginate hydrogel particle is introduced.

P5.03 ACUTE VASCULAR EFFECTS OF RECOMBINANT HUMAN TSH IN YOUNG SUBJECTS FROM CHERNOBYL AREA FOLLOWED-UP FOR PREVIOUS DIFFERENTIATED THYROID CANCER

open access: yesArtery Research, 2009
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of recombinant human TSH (rhTSH) on endothelial function, aortic and carotid stiffness, and wave reflection in a population living in the Chernobyl area at the time of 1986 blast, treated with thyroidectomy for thyroid ...

Non-Gaussian errors of baryonic acoustic oscillations

open access: yes, 2012
We revisit the uncertainty in baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) forecasts and data analyses. In particular, we study how much the uncertainties on both the measured mean dilation scale and the associated error bar are affected by the non-Gaussianity of ...
