Rapid, extreme expansion of the extracellular fluid with solutions devoid of acid or alkali theoretically can produce a metabolic acidosis, due to buffer dilution. This phenomenon has previously been demonstrated only in experimental animal studies. We have reported what we believe to be the first documented case of hypobicarbonatemia and metabolic ...

Are dilute solutions always dilute?
American Journal of Physics, 1988Near the critical points of a binary mixture a solution is never ‘‘dilute.’’ The correct formula for the solvent’s chemical potential requires the fulfillment of some thermodynamic relations near the liquid–gas critical point, which have been proven experimentally. The enhanced solubility of solids in supercritical fluid is analyzed.

Standard dilution analysis (SDA) is a novel calibration method that may be applied to most instrumental techniques that will accept liquid samples and are capable of monitoring two wavelengths simultaneously. It combines the traditional methods of standard additions and internal standards.

Asbestosis: Diagnostic Dilution
Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 1991The term "asbestosis" usually has been applied to a disease characterized by diffuse pulmonary interstitial fibrosis. It was often associated with a significant adverse impact on the individual. A review of case definitions employed in published research studies show stability of the criteria for asbestosis case definitions over the past decade ...
