Dimensional accuracy and tolerances in additive manufacturing

Aplikacija industrije 4.0 – prilika za novi iskorak u svim industrijskim granama / Application of Industry 4.0 – an opportunity for a new step forward in all industrial branches, 2022
Important quality indicators for products made by Additive Manufacturing (AM) methods include dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and surface roughness. This paper describes a novel benchmark part designed and manufactured by a Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) 3D printer and controlled on a coordinate measuring machine. The benchmark part contains basic

Accuracy and traceability in dimensional measurements

SPIE Proceedings, 1998
While the importance of the concepts of measurement accuracy and measurement traceability has long been recognized, they have not always been applied in a consistent or rigorous manner. In 1993 the International Organization for Standards (ISO) published two documents which establish consistent definitions of these and other metrology terms and provide

Accuracy in integrated circuit dimensional measurements

SPIE Proceedings, 1994
The measurement of critical dimensions of features on integrated circuits and photomasks is modeled as the comparison of the images of the test object and of a standard object in a measuring device. A length measuring instrument is then a comparator. The calibration of the standard and the conditions necessary for a valid comparison are discussed.

Diagnostic accuracy of three‐dimensional hysterosalpingo‐contrast‐sonography

Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 2006
Sir, With great interest we read the recent study of Chan and colleagues 1 on the feasibility and diagnostic accuracy of three-dimensional hysterosalpingo-contrast-sonography in comparison with lap...

Reconstruction accuracy in underwater three-dimensional kinematic analysis

Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport, 2008
Accuracy of kinematic data is of decisive importance in motion analysis particularly when they are to be used for the calculation of kinetic parameters, like the propulsive forces in swimming. The present study investigated the accuracy of underwater three-dimensional (3-D) kinematic analysis using periscope systems and calibration volumes with ...

Peripheral milling conditions for improved dimensional accuracy

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1994
Abstract Peripheral milling with flexible helical cutters is analyzed and modelled. The end mill is modelled as a cantilevered beam clamped to the collet with linear springs. Cutting forces and resulting tool deflection marks on the surface are analytically expressed.

Dimensional accuracy of tubes in cold pilgering

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2016
Abstract The effects of process conditions on the dimensional accuracy of tubes in cold pilgering were studied. The dimensions included the ovalities of the outer and inner diameters and the eccentricity ratio of the wall thickness. The permissible variations of the dimensions on the objective tubes were of 10 μm order.

Dimensional accuracy of FDM-printed polymer parts

Rapid Prototyping Journal, 2019
Purpose This paper aims to analyze experimentally and numerically the effect of the nozzle temperature and feed rates on the dimensions of the fused deposition modeling (FDM) polymer parts. Design/methodology/approach In total, 30 strips per sample were printed with the same width as the nozzle diameter.

HIGH-ACCURACY LOW-ORDER THREE-DIMENSIONAL BRICK ELEMENTS

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1996
Summary: We introduce the title elements via a three-field variational principle. The assumed (independent) strain field is constructed from two disjoint distributions. The first contains the lower-order distribution, and its dimension is the minimum required to satisfy stability requirements.
