Three‐dimensional measurement accuracy of skull surface landmarks

American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1988
AbstractCraniometric measuremnts from a three‐dimensional (3‐D) digitizing system were compared with those from sliding and spreading calipers. The 3‐D system consisted of a 3‐Space Digitizer, Macintosh Plus computer, and Unigraphics CAD/CAM system. Twenty‐nine standard measurements were made and repeated on two normal and three deformed skulls.

Methods to improve the dimensional measurement accuracy of a motion tracking system

Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 2020
Abstract Photogrammetry-based motion tracking systems are widely used in entertainment, medicine, sports, and other industries for low accuracy positioning applications. Camera-based systems track cooperative markers on objects to obtain their real-time positions and poses.

Three-dimensional measurement: The accuracy and precision of the reflex metrograph

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1988
The Reflex Metrograph is an optical plotter which is linked directly to a microcomputer and allows direct three-dimensional measurements of irregular shaped objects up to 300 mm maximum dimension without contacting the object. This study shows that it is possible to generate reproducible results with an operator measurement error of less than 0.2 mm ...

In-process dimensional measurement and control of workpiece accuracy

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1997
Abstract This paper surveys the available technology for “in-process control” of machined products, particularly in relation to turning, and cylindrical grinding, prior to completion of the machining process. The techniques developed for controlling accuracy of the workpiece, whilst in situ , are described using representative examples of current ...

The accuracy of measurements of three-dimensional computed tomography reconstructions [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1996
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of linear measurements obtained from three-dimensional reconstructions of computed tomography (CT) scans.Ten rectangular acrylic blocks were prepared with titanium molybdenum alloy (TMA) markers spaced from 1 to 10 mm, respectively.

Dual-frequency fringe for improving measurement accuracy of three-dimensional shape measurement [PDF]

open access: possibleChinese Optics Letters, 2021
A new phase unwrapping method based on dual-frequency fringe is proposed to improve both high accuracy and large measurement range of three-dimensional shape measurement by synthesizing the projected dual-frequency fringes obtaining higher and lower frequencies.
