Increasing the accuracy of imaging-based dimensional measurements
Optics and Photonics for Advanced Dimensional Metrology, 2020More than 95% of industrial inspection systems still rely on pure 2D information. Different measurement tasks like defect detection, micro-structure characterization, spectral characterization and dimensional metrology are typical application scenarios where standard 2D image processing based measurement systems are used.

In Vitro Measurement Accuracy of Three‐Dimensional Ultrasound
Echocardiography, 2001Objectives: We sought to validate distance and volume measurements in three‐dimensional (3‐D) ultrasound images. Background: Even with the latest equipment, it is not known how accurate 3‐D echocardiographic measurements are. Methods: Six models were imaged in ethanol solution and two within a tissue phantom using a mechanical rotation device rotating ...

Measuring Accuracy of Three-Dimensional Displacements in Holographic Interferometry
Applied Optics, 1973In order to establish a quantitative method of measuring the distribution of three-dimensional displacements by holographic interferometry, measuring errors caused by the following two factors are analyzed quantitatively: (i) reading error of fringe order, (ii) setting error of observing and illuminating directions.

Three-dimensional measurement: The accuracy and precision of the reflex microscope
British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1988The Reflex Microscope is an optical plotter which is linked directly to a microcomputer and allows direct three-dimensional measurements of irregular shaped objects up to 100 mm maximum dimension. This study shows that it is possible to generate reproducible results with an operator measurement error of less than 0.15 mm for linear distances.

The accuracy of dimensional measurement in ultrasonic real-time scanning
The British Journal of Radiology, 1981The ease of examination with real-time ultrasonic scanners, together with the provision of calipers, combine to make dimensional measurement of anatomical or pathological features an attractive index, that should ideally be independent of the operator.

Space-time image velocimetry (STIV) is a well-established image-based technique for measuring river surface flow from videos or image time series. Because the fundamental measurement mechanism is relatively simple, STIV has been used widely in research ...
