Bacterial‐Electrochemical Platform Utilizing a MXene‐Peptide Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A peptide‐based fibrillar hydrogel incorporating MXene facilitates efficient electron delivery to intracellular recombinant [FeFe]‐hydrogenase enzyme in E. coli, enabling sustained bioelectrochemical H2 production without engineered exoelectrogenicity pathways.

trans-Bis(5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-thiolato-κS2)bis(triphenylphosphane-κP)palladium(II) dimethyl sulfoxide disolvate hemihydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2012
The title complex, [Pd(C2H2N3S2)2(C18H15P)2]·2C2H6OS·0.5H2O, was obtained from the reaction of trans-[(Ph3P)2PdCl2] with 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thione (SSNH2) in a 2:1 molar ratio.

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Bis(μ-4-nitro-2-{[2-(oxidomethyl)phenyl]iminomethyl}phenolato)bis[chlorido(dimethyl sulfoxide)iron(III)] dimethyl sulfoxide disolvate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2012
In the centrosymmetric dimeric title complex, [Fe2(C14H10N2O4)2Cl2(C2H6OS)2]·2C2H6OS, two {Fe(L)Cl(DMSO)} units (L is the tridentate ligand 4-nitro-2-{[2-(oxidomethyl)phenyl]iminomethyl}phenolate; DMSO is dimethyl sulfoxide) are bridged by two O

Dimethyl Sulfoxide Damages Mitochondrial Integrity and Membrane Potential in Cultured Astrocytes

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a polar organic solvent that is used to dissolve neuroprotective or neurotoxic agents in neuroscience research. However, DMSO itself also has pharmacological and pathological effects on the nervous system.

Chamber‐Specific Decellularized Extracellular Matrices Differentially Modulate Cardiomyocyte Subtypes to Drive Engineered Heart Tissue Development and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chamber‐specific decellularized extracellular matrices (ECMs) were developed, preserving native proteomic profiles of ventricular and atrial myocardium. These innate biochemical cues differentially modulate cardiomyocyte subtypes to drive engineered heart tissue development and function, highlighting the importance of incorporating regional ECM cues in

Solvation of Chloropentaamminecobalt(III) Ion in Water-Dimethyl Sulfoxide Mixtures

open access: yes, 1991
The composition of the solvation shell of chloropentaamminecobalt(III) was investigated for water + dimethyl sulfoxide solvent mixtures using the Gibbs free energy of transfer and PMR solvent line broadening data.

Packed Hydrogel Microfibers as Scaffolds Supporting Dynamic Cellular Behavior and Biomaterial Inks in 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Packed hydrogel microfiber (PHM) materials consist of flexible and high aspect ratio hydrogel components that, as a bulk material, are simultaneously mechanically robust and dynamic. Cells cultured in or on PHM scaffolds can be influenced by topographical cues or interact with a dynamic environment that permits cell spreading and multicellular ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).
