Visualization Study on Ice Formation in Water and Dimethyl Sulfoxide Solution

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2022
Ice formation during freezing and rewarming processes is a key factor that affects the success rate of cell cryopreservation. The discovery of the formation and inhibition mechanism of ice crystals in various scenarios is highly significant for clinical ...

High‐Throughput Microfluidic‐Mediated Assembly of Layer‐By‐Layer Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of polymer films on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces is a promising technique for targeted drug delivery. Despite its success in preclinical mouse models, a current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) compliant, clinical‐scale production method has been lacking.

Asymmetric Nanofiber Membranes for Simultaneous Moisture Adsorption and Rapid Catalytic Hydrolysis of Nerve Agent Simulants in Atmospheric Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Asymmetric nanofiber membranes are constructed for simultaneous moisture adsorption and catalytic hydrolysis of dimethyl 4‐nitrophenyl phosphate (DMNP) in a wide range of relative humidity. The membrane exhibits high moisture adsorption capacity and fast hygroscopic rate.

Solvation of Ions. II. Use of a Variable Solvation Number for K+ [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Gibbs free energies of transfer of K(I) ion from water to water-dimethyl sulfoxide mixtures corrected to zero ionic strength have been used to deduce information concerning states of solvation of K+ ion in the purely aqueous phase and in the mixed ...

Ultrahigh‐resolution (λ/10) Femtosecond Laser Writing of Polymer‐Encapsulated Multicolor Perovskite Patterns Beyond the Diffraction Limit

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fabrication of in situ polymer‐encapsulated stable perovskite patterns of arbitrary shapes and pixel arrays with a resolution of 80 nm is reported by the femtosecond (fs) laser (800 nm) super‐resolution writing technique. The two‐photon absorption‐induced laser ablation is attributed to the achieved feature sizes as small as λ/10.

Dissecting the Hydrolytic Activities of Sarcoplasmic Reticulum ATPase in the Presence of Acetyl Phosphate

open access: yes
Sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles and purified Ca$^{2+}$-ATPase hydrolyze acetyl phosphate both in the presence and absence of Ca$^{2+}$. The Ca$^{2+}$-independent activity was fully sensitive to vanadate, insensitive to thapsigargin, and proceeded without

Class of {varphi}X174 Mutants Relatively Deficient in Synthesis of Viral RNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Nonpermissive cells infected with {varphi}X174 gene D amber mutants synthesized some sixfold less viral RNA than permissive cells. The decrease was unaffected by increasing the multiplicity of infection and was a consequence of an overall decrease in all

Quantum Dots and Perovskites‐Based Physically Unclonable Functions for Binary and Ternary Keys via Optical‐to‐Electrical Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates optoelectronic PUFs that improve on traditional optical and electrical PUFs. The absorber materials are randomly coated through spray coating, ligand exchange, and dynamic spin coating. Incident light generates wavelength‐dependent binary multikey and enhances security ternary keys, approaching near‐ideal inter‐ and intra ...
