The effectiveness of a probiotic containing Bifidobacterium longum BB-46 and Enterococcus faecium ENCfa-68 in the treatment of post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome. Prospective randomized comparative study

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2022
Background. In the treatment of post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS), the leading role belongs to the normalization of the composition of the intestinal microbiome, the disturbances of which are associated with previous intestinal infections.

Influence of OH- concentration on the illitization of kaolinite at high pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The products of hydrothermal reactions of kaolinite at 300°C and 1000 bars were studied in KOH solutions covering an OH- concentration, [OH-], of 1M to 3.5M. XRD patterns indicated a notable influence of the [OH-] on the reaction.

The effect of sonication on dioctahedral and trioctahedral micas

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2006
This paper reports on the effect of sonication on two mica samples. The materials have been investigated in terms of structure modifications, particle size and morphology, specific surface area and thermogravimetric behaviour. The effect of the mica structure, namely density and distribution of cations over the octahedral sites, on the sonicated ...

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF DIOCTAHEDRAL TWO-LAYER CLAY MINERALS

open access: yesGruntovedenie, 2021
The article shows that the variations in the chemical composition of kaolinite recorded during the analytical determination of individual oxides may be due to different reasons Among them, the following should be noted: isomorphic substitutions, crystal structure features and adsorption of amorphous oxides and hydroxides of silicon, aluminum, iron ...

Is selective identification of poorly crystalline aluminum hydroxides in soils of temperate latitude possible?

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Aluminum (Al) is one of the most abundant elements in soils. As poorly crystalline Al hydroxides are reactive toward soil organic matter (SOM), they are thought to be involved in SOM stabilization. This is also inferred from correlations between soil organic carbon contents and those of Al extracted by acid oxalate in darkness (AOD), although ...

Structural, Mineral and Elemental Composition Features of Iron-Rich Saponite Clay from Tashkiv Deposit (Ukraine)

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces, 2019
Low-temperature nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, as well as infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize structural features of raw and acid-treated ...

Ferromagnesian Clay Diversity Across Mars' Crustal Dichotomy: A Window Into Early Aqueous Environments

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Extensive research over the past two decades has shown that early Mars likely had a warmer, wetter climate with widespread water activity. Ferromagnesian (Fe,Mg‐rich) clay deposits are compelling markers of these ancient environments, helping reconstruct Mars' hydrologic evolution, assess past habitability, and guide future exploration.

Mineral Weathering Experiments for Terrestrial Planetary Analogs in a Continuous‐Flow Reactor

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Understanding the groundwater environments for ancient Mars and other terrestrial bodies is of great interest for evaluating their habitability. Here, we experimentally tested simulated aqueous alterations of two Mars simulants (variants of MGS‐1) using a continuous‐flow packed bed reactor, reacting with three ionic simulated groundwater analog ...

Quasielastic Neutron Scattering Reveals Anisotropic Water Transport in Smectite Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 24, December 22, 2025.
Clay minerals, vital in advanced technologies, exhibit tunable interfacial properties. Quasielastic neutron scattering is used on oriented beidellite films to study charge‐induced anisotropy. Results reveal anisotropic water dynamics and orientation‐dependent diffusion.
