A Sparse Multilevel Matrix Converter Based on Diode-Clamped Topology
2007 IEEE Industry Applications Annual Meeting, 2007This paper presents a novel sparse matrix converter configuration that needs no bulky energy storage capacitors or inductors, and employs only unidirectional power semiconductor switches. The source side bridge is switched at the line frequency and therefore, this allows the use of the low speed high power rating switches.

Power factor correction based on diode clamped rectifier
International Journal of Electronics, 2001Multilevel converters are recent alternative ways of implementing high power medium voltage applications compared with two-level converters. This paper presents a three-level pulse-width modulation scheme based on the diode clamped rectifier for power factor correction. Eight power switches are employed in the adopted switching mode rectifier.

A high‐efficiency diode‐clamped linear amplifier
Electronics and Communications in Japan, 2008AbstractThis paper proposes a new power converter without any switching operation and which works as a linear amplifier. The main circuit of the proposed converter consists of series‐connected MOSFETs, series‐multi DC power supplies, and clamping diodes.

A modified diode clamped inverter with reduced number of switches
2018 9th Annual Power Electronics, Drives Systems and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2018This paper presents a novel multilevel inverter with reduced number of switches based on a modification to conventional diode clamped inverter. Diode clamped inverter is a well-known and wide-spread multilevel inverter among other inverters. Therefore, it has been modified in this paper to use fewer number of components to generate the same output ...

Snubber circuit for diode-clamped four-levelinverter and converter
IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2001The snubber circuit makes use of Undeland and McMurray snubbers in the basic snubber unit, and can be regarded as a generalised combined Undeland and McMurray snubber. The proposed snubber features fewer components, improved efficiency due to low snubber loss, overvoltage clamping across main switching devices, and no imbalance problem of the blocking ...

Two-level operation of a diode-clamped multilevel inverter
2010 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2010This paper presents space vector based quasi two-level operation of a diode-clamped multilevel inverter in an attempt to improve the dc link utilization and output voltage quality, and avoids dc link capacitor voltage balancing problems experienced with standard multilevel operation.

Voltage-balancing strategies for diode-clamped multilevel converters
2004 IEEE 35th Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37551), 2004This paper explores space-vector modulation strategies for diode-clamped multilevel converters. The analysis is focused on the voltage-balancing issue, since this is a very difficult task in high-order multilevel converters. Two strategies for selecting redundant vectors in the space-vector diagram are explained; both of them are based on minimizing a ...

Diode-Clamped Three-Level Dual Buck Inverter
2009 International Conference on Energy and Environment Technology, 2009Dual Buck inverter(DBI) is a new topology which has the characteristics of high frequency and efficiency. But the output voltage of the bridge is a bipolar PWM waveform and voltage stress of the component in DBI is high, just like the half bridge inverter.

A diode-clamped multilevel inverter with voltage boost function
8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011Multilevel inverters are mainly used in high power and medium voltage applications to reduce the required voltage rating of the power semiconductor switching devices. On the other hands, these multilevel inverters are attractive for various applications regardless of the power ratings because they can essentially realize lower harmonics with lower ...

Modeling of diode clamped inverter using SPWM technique
2017 International Conference on Green Energy Conversion Systems (GECS), 2017Certainly many applications in industrial field have begun to require nowadays high power. However some industrial appliances require for their operation medium or low power. So using a high power source for all types of loads may be a benefic solution to some motors, while it makes damage for other loads.
