Waveguide Geometry–Driven Trade‐Offs in Resonant Cavity Sensor Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Waveguide geometry governs the interplay between sensitivity, intrinsic Q‐factor, and wavelength noise in silicon nitride resonant sensors. Contrary to intuition, higher sensitivity does not ensure superior performance. Low‐noise, high‐Q ridge resonators achieve the lowest detection limits, revealing that detection is ultimately constrained by noise ...

Four-Sided Symmetrical Transversely Pumped Model for Diode-Pumped Rare Gas Lasers

open access: yesPhotonics
Diode-pumped rare gas lasers (DPRGLs) have attracted significant attention as potential high-power laser sources. This paper proposes a four-sided transverse pumping scheme to address the energy concentration degree limitations in existing side-pumped ...

Yb-doped femtosecond lasers and their frequency doubling

open access: yes, 2009
Ultralow threshold, compact and highly efficient femtosecond lasers based on Yb³⁺-doped potassium yttrium tungstate (Yb:KYW) and Yb³⁺-doped vanadium yttrium oxide (Yb:YVO 4 ) have been demonstrated within this PhD-research project.

Bridging Boltzmann and Non‐Boltzmann Optical Thermometry Enabled by Multimodal Perovskite Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal perovskite nanocrystals enable optical thermometry across multiple excitation and emission regimes, spanning the UV–Vis–NIR spectral range. By combining upconversion, downshifting, and persistent luminescence, the platform bridges conventional Boltzmann and non‐Boltzmann thermometric approaches.

Diode-Pumped Mode-Locked Yb:KY(WO4)2 Laser Generating 46 fs Pulses

open access: yesPhotonics
We report on sub-50 fs pulse generation from a diode-pumped mode-locked laser based on an ytterbium-doped monoclinic potassium yttrium double tungstate crystal operating in the 1 μm spectral region.

Continuous wave and modelocked femtosecond novel bulk glass lasers operating around 2000 nm

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis reports on the development of glass-based femtosecond laser sources around 2 µm wavelength. In order to be able to produce 2 µm radiation the dopants used were trivalent Thulium (Tm³⁺) and trivalent Holmium (Ho³⁺) that could be optically ...

Red Fluorescent Protein‐Metal Organic Framework Hybrids for Lighting Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the encapsulation in a metal‐organic framework (MOF) of two red fluorescent proteins, DsRed and mCherry. The materials conserve all spectroscopical and structural properties of the underlying components, which allows for their implementation as color down‐converting materials in bio‐hybrid light‐emitting diodes, which exhibit average 3 ...

Efficient Dual-Wavelengths Continuous Mode Lasers by End-Pumping of Series Nd:YVO4 and Nd:GdVO4 Crystals and Speckle Reduction Study

open access: yesPhotonics, 2019
In this paper, diode pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers based on end-pumping series Nd:YVO4 and Nd:GdVO4 crystals were studied. Dual-, tri-, and quad-wavelength emissions were achieved.

Mono‐ and Bilayer MoS2 Photodetectors: High‐Performance Broadband AC Readout With Color‐Selective Noise Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Mono‐ and bilayer MoS2 photodetectors enable wavelength‐selective AC photoresponse and optically driven capacitance modulation under visible illumination. Green excitation produces the strongest cumulative capacitive response, consistent with trap‐mediated charge accumulation at mono/bilayer and metal–MoS2 interfaces.
